What would you do with an un-used room?

We have a room that just doesn't seem to have a purpose. It currently has the kids scooters in, a little desk (which they never sit at), and a pile of boardgames which we bring to the dining table to play.

So it's a bit.....useless. We have a guest room which has a workstation in it for me to WFH so there's no point having a proper office.

Its not even a bad room. Gets the morning sun. Nice big window. Fuck all purpose Grin

Wwyd?

It was originally a playroom when we moved in. However they never ever played in there and always just dragged their toys round the house. It ended up being a room we just flung the toy boxes back into a closed the door on.

So now they have the toys split between their rooms, and they have a little space outside their rooms which they put shared toys in some storage which is working way better- they actually go there to play now.

Instruments - got to be careful as we are in a terrace. Really don't want to piss off the neighbours.

I don't want a formal dining room it won't ever be used. We have a dining kitchen.

Like the idea of a craft room!

I would make it a TV room, comfy sofa and TV and then the main sitting room is calmer and TV free

Turn it into a gym.

Definitely a craft room! Since lockdown I have rediscovered my love of cross stitch and have completed two sets and am now on my third with a small one on the side, as well as having a go at making face masks and other stuff. So I have a sewing machine out plus a trail of wool and cotton all over the carpet!

Play room, home office, guest room

We had one of these. Beautiful room - bay windows, open fire. It was a dumping ground / dining room / once a year room.

I turned it into a tv / sitting room and still have a dining table in it. It's my favourite room now!!

I’d have it as a yoga room! Lots of nice plants by the window, maybe a sideboard with some books and somewhere to store paints etc and keep the floor space free for yoga!
That would be a dream!

Maybe the kids won't play in there because you aren't in there? Could you put their toys in there, easels, stuff they want to play with that doesn't really want to be shifted about (big Lego models, dolls' houses, that kind of thing) and a sofa/comfy chair for you? Shove a washable throw over it so it doesn't get paint on, and then you can sit and read in the lovely morning light (or use your iPad) while the kids play?
