Recommendations for a dry scalp, that won't make me smell like tarmac?

I have a dry scalp (as opposed to dandruff) and have been using the TGel stuff that smells like a road has just been laid. It definitely works, but I cant stand the smell!

Does anyone have anything else they can recommend please? x

Body shop Ginger Shampoo is great. I have a condition which leaves me with day itchy skin and hives, and this is the only product which soothes it without smelling awful.

I've found the head and shoulders clinically proven to be really good.

Have you tried the other T-Gel shampoos, the clear ones rather than the tar ones?

Aveda Pramasana scalp cleanser. You scrub it in to your scalp with fingertips (or buy a fancy brush if you wish) before shampooing. It's worked miracles for me after trying various things over the years. They also do something in the same range that you put on afterwashing, to calm any itching. I found the after-wash stuff to make my hair look/feel a bit greasy, and actually once I was using the scalp cleanser, I didn't need to add the extra step.

Oh and it smells lovely. Aveda stuff is all very fresh, natural and herby smelling.

Forgot to say that I've also used Head and Shoulders for years, bu as I'm not treating dandruff, it seems to make my scalp just as dry.

It's quite harsh, surprisingly!

Some good recommendations there - thank you!

Say Yes to Carrots

Strange name but it works on dry scalp that is not dandruff related.

Alphosyl?

Hi OP. Have you tried almond oil as a treatment for your scalp? It's a bit of a bind, but, what a difference it makes to a dry scalp. I put loads of the oil on my scalp at night, massage it in well, put a shower cap on & sleep in it. Put it on dry hair. Apply shampoo before water when washing it off X

If you go on the Aveda page you can usually on-line chat with an advisor who you can check the recommendation with.

I use Capasal. It doesn't smell as bad as TGel or Polytar. I've used it for years for psoriasis as daily shampoo. It's still tar based but think there's coconut in there. You can only buy over the counter though. First had it on prescription.
Nothing else has ever worked for me. It lasts for ages too as you only need a tiny bit.
