I haven't ever bought mashed potatoes, but I made my own as I had more spuds than I knew what to do with (was given a bag when shopping with difficult). To use them - I put them into a pyrex bowl covered with pierced cling film, or similar. Heated on 50% power for five minutes. They may need a bit longer, depending on how many portions you are cooking. They were delicious.

Microwave for short periods and stir

Microwave , although they always underestimate the lengths of time so you need to keep checking .

Covered in the microwave - but its always about double the time they tell you. Add butter (and possibly cheese...yum) afterwards.

Put in bowl, cover with cling film and poke holes in. Put in microwave for the 4-5 minute mark if I remember right.

Microwave, I add butter, a dash of milk and I use a potato masher, do for 2 mins, then mash, then another min, mash and another min if needed and continue until hot all the way through.

I don’t bother cover, just whack in microwave for 4.5 mins

I don't cover them. I microwave for 4 minutes then stir , then for another couple of minutes depending on how much is in the bowl.

I love frozen mash.

Just in case you don't have a microwave (I don't), I can walk through what I do. I've never tried on shop mash, but I freeze some quite often when I have a glut of potatoes.

First I defrost the mash overnight in the fridge. Then when I'm ready to cook, I heat some milk in a saucepan. (Not much, an inch max) then when it's warm I add the cold mash. Cook on a low heat and use the masher to blend the warm milk through and remash.

Comes out really nice. The added milk is just to stop the potatoes catching and burning at the bottom really. Sometimes I stir through some extra butter (usually put a load in when I first make it).

I use it on top of shepherds/cottage pie, when the mince is really unctuous put the frozen potato on top, dots of butter/olive oil then in oven. I do cover loosely with foil until it looks like ordinary mash then take the foil off and leave in the oven until it looks lightly browned, usually about ten mins.

Same idea for fish pie.

The ones I use always say to add some milk before heating them up, a couple of decilitres usually. I heat it up in a saucepan usually.

Bargainhuntbore · 15/05/2020 18:12

3-4 mins in the micro.

I love frozen mash. My go-to comfort food.

Put it in a saucepan with some milk and slowly warm it through stirring as it thaws. Doesnt take long.
