What is the advice on sharing a work vehicle?

My sister runs a cleaning business with another woman. They have returned to work this week. I said that they would need to get to the destinations separately but she said it’s ok to share a car if you are work colleagues.
Today, on my way to get my click and collect shopping I passed a 4 mile traffic jam. A large percentage of the traffic were work vehicles (vans, lorries, transits etc). Almost all had two, three or more occupants. There was a mini bus with around 8 or 9 builders in it. Obviously none of these people were 2 meters apart and none of them were wearing masks.
I can’t help but worry that this practice is just going to cause a second wave.

At DHs work, it's driver and one other person in the rear seat behind the passenger seat.

It's not best practise , if people can travel separately they should

Not everyone can. And the more that do travel separately , given that most people cannot walk or cycle to work, and need to avoid public transport, the worse that traffic jam will get

The vulnerable in particular have grounds to ask for allowances to be made to their work so that they are not forced to car share

Leading to more asthma deaths ( sidetrack I know)

I'm sure I've read somewhere that work colleagues/car shares can sit side by side but should have the windows down and not face one another.

No idea if that's somewhere in the division guidelines though as it seems too ridiculous to be true!

Many people have jobs where they have to travel about all day on and off in a works vehicle. I’ve tried looking online for advice but it’s quite confusing.
