If your cat went missing

...and you found it, where was it? I am going out of my mind with worry about dcat who we last saw at 8pm last night.

She is a 14 year old homebird who rarely goes further than our garden, not a daft kitten who goes exploring. She has never spent all night outdoors - her cat flap locks at 10pm after which time she can come in but not go out, until morning.

We’ve looked in every cupboard and hidey hole. Neighbours have looked in their sheds. I’ve put a notice on the village Facebook page.

I don’t know what else to do. I feel sick with worry.

Yay, great news.

Don't lose hope. My niece's EXTREMELY timid housecat disappeared out of a window recently and was missing for SIXTEEN days. We had all just about given up hope when he miraculously turned up on their doorstep. We think he was close by all along as your cat probably is.Never give up hope. Put posters everywhere. Is your cat microchipped? Hope she turns up soon.

One of mine disappeared for 9 months and was found about 4 miles away. We think he'd either jumped into a delivery van or just wandered a bit too far. He was being fed by someone who thought he was a stray and eventually got Cats Protection to check him for a chip. We were reunited the same day by CP. He voluntarily won't leave the garden now.

Terralee · 14/05/2020 17:28

So pleased you found her!!

FiveShelties · 15/05/2020 03:42

Excellent news, she is a beauty.

Rockbird · 15/05/2020 04:44

Is that a before or after photo? Only she looks like it's all your fault. Although cats do tent to look like it's all your fault at the best of times!

PuddleglumtheMarshWiggle · 15/05/2020 08:55

There's truth in the saying - Curiosity killed the cat.
No matter how old/ill/shy the cat is they will always want to explore.
Glad she is home now and, hopefully, she'll have learnt a lesson.

RamsayBoltonsConscience · 15/05/2020 09:02

Mine was in our shed for three days. I believe she ate some field mice whilst in there - she doesn't like the heads. 😩

Frownette · 15/05/2020 09:57

Yay, pleased for you Venus Smile

It's not nice when they go walkies. You sometimes wish they could operate cat mobiles and phone to tell you where they are.

Beautiful cat!

Kernowgal · 15/05/2020 10:15

My ancient old puss, who wasn't given to exploring, went up the loft ladder unbeknownst to me. I shut the loft hatch and it was only when I was going to bed and wondering where he was that I heard a pathetic mewling coming from the attic. Getting him down again was a bit of a challenge.

BearSoFair · 15/05/2020 10:41

So glad she's back!

Years ago now but ours casually strolled through the back door 10 minutes after we'd been round the block putting up missing posters...looking and acting as if she'd only popped out for half an hour!

VenusClapTrap · 15/05/2020 13:45

@Rockbird that is post rescue. Yes, it is indeed all my fault and she gave me filthy looks all evening - but was glued to my side all night long like a furry hot water bottle!

My that is a filthy look. You will have to do much better in future.

Frownette · 15/05/2020 14:19

Mine only went missing twice in ten years as she was a homebird and not a huntress at all, very shy.

She went missing first as shed door had been open and I thought it was unusual she'd been gone for few hours so went outside and listened to the air and heard a little cat scream so got her out.

Second time she went into a neighbour's open window and I was exhausting options about where to find her and broke in and there she was. House was on the market and empty so I climbed in through the window bashing my knees and she was there and she was very ill at that point and was about to die.

They do scare a lot when they go missing
