5.5 mo turning into an angry beast

Any ideas? He goes to bed around 7 pm and mostly sleeps through until 5 am and I feed him about 5.30 am. He then turns into this crying screaming monster around 7.30 am. Could he be hungry or tired again? He won't sleep but is rubbing his eyes. I have ended up giving him another feed to help calm him down and he is taking it all whilst semi conscious. I'm worried about over feeding him.

I have also started weaning (only two days) just to get used to tastes. Both times he has cried and looks at me like I've poisoned him. I wasn't going to attempt baby porridge first but would it be an idea to try in the morning to see if it is a hunger issue? Will this mess up my attempts at veggie purees at lunchtime? I'd be grateful for any help or ideas.

I know everyone is having a hard time at the moment but my happy baby is turning into this screaming baby and I'm at a loss (sorry for all those with screaming babies Flowers)

If he is awake the whole time from 5.30am to 7.30am he is definitely tired. The most these guys should be awake at any one stretch is 2 hours but my 5.5mo can only do 1 - 1.5 hours first thing (I guess he's still tired from night time).
I introduced solids 2 weeks ago (teaspoon of banana for 3 days, teaspoon avocado 3 days etc) but he hates them all!
Babies are an odd bunch :)

Yes he is awake for that time. But he just won't give in to sleep. I'm sure he would in the pram but I don't want every nap to start to start off in the pram. He has passed out feeding and is now a sleeping angel

I mean this in the nicest way but I'm so glad your baby hates food too.

Have you tried feeding him then putting him straight back down? It may be that he's not be ready to wake up so is completely over stimulated! Try a feed and nappy change in a dark room then putting him straight back down

I will do that tomorrow. Unfortunately I think we disturb him (partner getting up) and he gets excited to see me which is lovely but maybe not helpful for him. I'll see if I can get him back to sleep for a bit longer.

My 6 month old needs a nap 1.5 hours after he wakes in the morning which is usually between 5.30 and 6.30am. He will not go down in his cot then so I do this nap in a sling. Is this an option for you?

Whycurrybeanswhy · 14/05/2020 09:10

I have a sling but never used it. If he goes to sleep it's on me. Never usually will be put down either. He will in the afternoon though. I will learn to put it on later and try that too.

Thank you for the ideas. Glad it isn't just my baby sleepy in the morning. Was starting to worry.
