Random very dark bruise

Hello all! I have a very dark purple / brown bruise on the side of my leg. It's about the size of a pound and I really have no idea how I got it. I've had it for a few days and it's still very dark. Should I be concerned? I'm 35 so hopefully not age etc. No injuries, only meds I'm on are iron tablets. Any help appreciated :-)

Sorry I have no idea, but I am sure others can give more advice :)

Hi OP. Firstly, I'm sure it's just a bruise and hope it clears up soon. However (and I don't want to scare you here) but if you do develop any additional symptoms please get checked out quickly. Any fatigue, shortness of breath, fever, joint pain or things that won't heal. My DH is coming to the end of a year of treatment for leukaemia, the first symptom of which we totally ignored, which was odd black bruising in random places. (He's going to be absolutely fine).

However, the leg is a far more likely place for you to have got a bruise, so like I say, I'm sure you're absolutely fine. Just please keep an eye out for any other symptoms. I could never forgive myself if I read something like this and didn't give the heads up, just in case.

Thank you lemony; that's really helpful. Tbh my brain ran first to leaukaemia; once I'd spent an hour wondering how I got the bruise Grin;certainly if another one popped up I'd be wary and book an appt. it's still there but is at the point 2 veins meet so I'm wondering if was a tiny knock that's just in the wrong place and there was a little veinal bleed? Anyway, I'll keep my eyes out for more, am paranoid about it now! Thanks again and I'm so glad your husband has had treatment. All the very best Thanks

Your theory sounds much more likely, and I'm really glad I haven't overly worried you. Always good to know the symptoms and be on the lookout. Take care Flowers
