Ha! Certainly do... wouldn't go down well at work Grin Speaking of, must actually do some.

Orangeblossom78 · 14/05/2020 10:44

For a break from the flat and home schooling I'm packing us a picnic today for a break in the middle of the day. Looking forward to doing that with no fear of judgement. I think this slight return to freedom, if small is a little boost

Bollss · 14/05/2020 10:44

i have hired a skip this morning so i have probably killed at least 3 people.

cant bloody wait we've loads of crap lying around. Lockdown is a bad time to be renovating. Cant even get bloody paint at the moment.

thatgingergirl · 14/05/2020 10:46

Definitely is a boost - I walked for 3 hours with a friend yesterday. So good to spend time with someone else.

Orangeblossom78 · 14/05/2020 10:56

Yes it's a relief to not have to worry about e.g. having a picnic or meeting at a distance and wondering if a dementor is out to get you or look at you or something isn't it.

or if they do know you are Ok as not breaking their 'rules' and can just ignore them...Smile

Orangeblossom78 · 14/05/2020 10:57

DH ordered some paint online it arrived a day or so ago..

Iwalkinmyclothing · 14/05/2020 10:59

DM isn't talking to me any more because I said we should consider the effects of all this on our children's mental and emotional wellbeing, on their education, on their future- we need a fucking economy for them to have jobs in- and that I did not agree with her that we would have to continue exactly as we are for years.

Bollss · 14/05/2020 11:04

@Orangeblossom78 ive managed to order some of what we need but i cannot seem to get some of it for love nor money!

I am just gonna have to keep checking online Grin

Children and young people inc young adults are being thrown under a bus time and again. First it was brexit to appease the elderly. Then this. The elderly who survive this (ie the vast majority of them) will be well cushioned financially while the young will be uneducated, unemployed and bear the brunt of paying for this mess over a decade or more. It makes me furious.

Knock it off with the demonising of the elderly please. I'm 62, did not vote for Brexit despite living outside the SE, and am watching the value of my pension dwindle by the hour knowing that I face age discrimination if I want to keep working for longer to supplement it. I face a higher chance of death if I get the virus. I assure you that I am not chortling and rubbing my hands with glee.

HauntedGoatFart · 14/05/2020 11:07

I won't be forgetting how people in tourist areas have behaved to "outsiders" in all of this. I suspect many people won't. I'll stay here or go abroad in future, but I won't be taking UK breaks.

Thanks for posting that excerpt from the school letter @rosettesforjill and it's good to see the DoE standing up to the unions. Still crossing my fingers for hearing something constructive from my DC's schools.

It does feel a bit like the peak school Dementing is now running out of steam. I fully intend to FOMO Dementors every time I come across them in the wild now. I'm also meeting a colleague for a socially distant walk later. With takeaway coffee!

Iwalkinmyclothing · 14/05/2020 11:08

demonising of the elderly please. I'm 62

Surely you don't consider yourself elderly at 62? You're a working age adult.

MinnieMountain · 14/05/2020 11:09

(Whispers) nurse friend and I have been doing "accidental" meet ups with the DC for 2 weeks now after a genuinely accidental meet up went well.

DominaShantotto · 14/05/2020 11:11

Dd2 can’t fall or stay asleep now. She is such a wreck. High on the list for potential vulnerability places at school if there’s any capacity once they take more keyworker kids. There won’t be space.

ThatLibraryMiss · 14/05/2020 11:27

Iwalkinmyclothing, I am indeed working age but am starting to creak and I'm very aware that I'm no longer as supple, nor do I heal as fast, as 30 years ago.

freedomyes · 14/05/2020 11:39

I agree with the nastiness to "non tourists". Ive seen it on fb (wells fb group for locals and visitors ). Fortunatley some are better with just a few dementors. eg a couple of places acknowledge that people can and will visit. So have asked nicely for visitors to respect the place, shops etc. And for that teyre opening a takeaway cafe, loos and a proper carpark. common sense!

GroEggAndHam · 14/05/2020 11:43

You're more than welcome to use our car parks.... (if you're really nice I'll tell you where you can park for free though Grin)

LilacTree1 · 14/05/2020 11:48

Wow, some of your reports about the dementors are pretty stunning

“ The cynic in me is saying that Nicola is extending lockdown here just because she can”

I think a lot of politicians are taking that view. I’m a bit confused but Los Angeles appears to have lockdown for another three months, they must be literally looking to destroy it.

freedomyes · 14/05/2020 11:49

I went to the far end of Holkam yesterday (as far away from nasty Wells as poss). lush.

Must be a Norfolk thing that even with our webbed toes we may have some common sense to people lol (excepting wells.....). I`ll get my chips elsewhere in the future.

rosettesforjill · 14/05/2020 11:53

I wish I lived close enough to Holkham to pay it a visit! Spent a glorious few October days staying in the Victoria a few years back. It's one of my favourite places Smile

123bananas · 14/05/2020 12:05

I have had two skips and a s**t load of soil delivered since this all kicked off and ordered takeaway food. Yesterday I took chocolate to my elderly father, because it was essential for his wellbeing. 🐔

Domina my eldest had anxiety and difficulty sleeping in the past (she was in year 3 age so about 8 I think) and the less sleep she got the worse it got. We ended up using valerian tea half an hour before bed to help her get sleepy enough to sleep and played audio books/guided meditations etc... during settling time to help relax her mind (encourage it to concentrate on something else). Once she got some better sleep it helped her anxiety levels reduce. Also the headspace for kids app is good.

Orangeblossom78 · 14/05/2020 12:10

Oh dear. We just had delivery of an 'emergency food parcel from the government' sounds a bit dramatic. Things like lynx body wash rice and pasta and chicken meat balls!

I guess DH must have had one of those letters, he was a bit quiet today. Very late.

Pinkflipflop85 · 14/05/2020 12:11

The no pe teacher is talking out of her arse.

We have loads of pe type activities planned for the return to school. Here's hoping for good weather!

Orangeblossom78 · 14/05/2020 12:15

Oh f**ck he is set to return to work next week, self employed so he needs to really. He'll be so cross they share his info etc.

maybe I can do the antibody test to free him as think we had it already. he'll just ignore the message anyway

freedomyes · 14/05/2020 12:16

yes to the no PE! even now dh gets the kids out when its nice.

Orangeblossom78 · 14/05/2020 12:16

Yeah she was a right dementor Pink, came not a parents thread about returners to tell us she wouldn't as a teacher and listed lots of depressing changes.
