Lighthearted obviously

But I always enjoy them, mil is taking the biggest room, dh has lost his passport we fly tomorrow, SIL wants us all to work to her kids schedule.

Wonder what will take their place this summer

Class Mum who wants everyone to contribute £100 to a teachers gift collection Grin

Airplane seating, Mum has not reserved seats for her family and everyone is outraged that she expects people to swap their reserved seats with her children!

bigmove2020 · 13/05/2020 13:52

Oh yes. I don't want to pay to the teacher gift cause they have been say with their feet for months

I will miss the threads about people getting up at 5am to grab a sun lounger by the pool before a German or whoever.

TSSDNCOP · 13/05/2020 21:27

The poster that won't pay the £10 extra per head to reserve seating then starts threads botching about bastard robbing bastard airlines and how they won't dare split her and her kids all along the plane.

And if they do, well, she'll tell them and insist someone else moves to accommodate her and her kids.

MrAlyhakinsMassiveYacht · 13/05/2020 21:28

No wedding one either.

TSSDNCOP · 13/05/2020 21:29

And the posters that get AirBnB for £5 in Padstow and take their family of 8.

Fantasy AirBnB is the holiday equivalent of the Mumsnet magic chicken.

Mrsjayy · 13/05/2020 22:35

Whats a magicalAir B&B ? They never appeal to me my friendsbooked one and it was an actual garage with a bed and ensuite Shock

Mrsjayy · 13/05/2020 22:37

Fantasy although it might be magical 😁

bigmove2020 · 14/05/2020 11:58

Oh I had forgotten about the wedding ones. I love those

timeisnotaline · 14/05/2020 12:01

I’m hoping for a few ‘I drove 2 hours to the airport to find my flight was cancelled back in April and I didn’t read the email! Kids are sobbing and dh wont talk to me.’

bigmove2020 · 14/05/2020 12:03

The un-cancelled weddings in August/September should be interesting

Do you reckon there are teachers sighing in relief at not having to find somewhere for 10 new Best Teacher mugs?

Coniferhedge · 14/05/2020 12:15

Just wait until the GCSE and A-level results come out this year. My son is in Y11 and I’m expecting some of the parents to be foaming at the mouth because their child should have got a higher grade!

BeltaneBride · 14/05/2020 12:38

Oooh love this thread! Thanks OP!

Mrsjayy · 14/05/2020 12:43

Are they just doing predicted grades ?

bigmove2020 · 14/05/2020 13:01

There will be a lot of unhappy parents when the results come out.

OP posts:
Mrsjayy · 14/05/2020 13:07

Joking aside that is really rubbish

Coniferhedge · 14/05/2020 13:13

From what DS's school have told us and how I understand it, the teachers of each subject have had to send in samples of each pupil's work and also their mock exam results. Also, a short piece about each pupil as to how they were progressing in class including their behaviour, attitude to work etc. Results will be based on that.

Additionally, we have been told that there is talk of resits for pupils who are not happy with their results in the Autumn. How that will work I don't know, the kids should have already gone one to Sixth Form/University by then. All joking apart, it is a worrying time. I can see it being a bit of a mess for all involved. Confused

2tired2bewitty · 14/05/2020 13:16

I wonder if we’ll see a few ‘another child has got a much better grade than I think they deserve’ threads.

iVampire · 15/05/2020 13:08

Yes, it’s predicted grades. But teachers have to amass the evidence on which they have based their predictions, and hold it ready to be inspected on demand during the moderation process. The boards are also looking at the school results over last few years (any big changes from a typical recent year may need to be justified) as well as national level distribution of grades

Basically it’s a massive exercise in trusting teachers’ professional judgement and integrity.

There might be a few surprise grades (either way) but that happens in exams too

Biscuitbiscuits · 15/05/2020 13:12

Aw dammit, I love the ones where a family of 6 don't reserve plane seats then expect everyone that has paid to reserve specific seats to move for them.

bigmove2020 · 16/05/2020 16:13

They always have an excuse why they have any reserved as well

There's going to be a lot of disclaimers about small issues that are now huge because op's holiday was cancelled or the pandemic ruined this or that.

Things like

My neighbours won't stop sitting quietly in their garden until 7pm and it is ruining the only Small bit of summer I'm going to have this year since my holiday was cruelly snatched from my children and I. I wouldn't normally complain but I deserve more than this Because i was a key worker and the uk would have completely collapsed without me doing

Don't they understand that while I am using my outdoor space they should have the respect to stay in their homes in silence until I have decided I am finished, it's only fair after the sacrifice Iv made.

DrDavidBanner · 16/05/2020 17:36

I bloody love a good wedding thread the most outlandish the better.

KKSlider · 16/05/2020 17:39

I'd have been fucked if my exam grades were based on performance over the year because i shut everything out in order to focus so when I'm concentrating my hardest, it looks like I'm not paying attention at all. If I look like I'm really paying attention, I can guarantee I'm not listening in the slightest Grin I used to look like I was coasting along but then would blast it out at coursework and exam time and come out with really good marks.

I think we'll have a heatwave this morning which will make people extra batshit so we won't get the holiday threads but we will get some utterly bonkers neighbourhood wars threads.
