Help with hair cutting!!!!

My DS 10 desperately needs a haircut....he looks like he has that clip on Lego hair atm
He usually has a grade 2 then scissor cut on top. I’m definitely not going to get the scissors out but could probably tackle it with clippers?
Can I just clipper the whole lot? Maybe just a grade 4 so as not to scalp the poor lad!

Clipper the sides and back, but trim in layers on top until it looks okay.

Thanks! He’s quite willing to let me do it... DS16 has resorted to wearing a cap all the time now (even indoors) and won’t let me near it.
I’m just worried I’m going to mess it up and make the poor boy look ridiculous! And with him being the youngest of 6....there are plenty of them to make fun of him! Which won’t go down well!
