We have one but it's more of a cabin. It's rectangular (4.5 x 3.5m) and we use it all year round as an extra room as we added electrics and so we have heating throughout the winter. It has double doors that you can open wide and secure so you feel like you're outside whilst sitting inside iyswim.

It has eaten into out garden but it means I have less grass to mow so bonus. It looks pretty as we painted it and we tagged a shed on the side for the garden tools that was an optional extra. I'll pm you the site and make if you're interested as they have a sale on now.

We have a lovely one, we built a bar in it and it has comfy sofas .. really fun and pretty 🤩🤩

Summerhouse

Thanks Anne, are cabins insulated? If so I think that would be pushing it cost wise for us. We would use it mainly in summer as we live in a very windy but sunny place.
Yours looks lovely vase, I envisage ours being like an overgrown Wendy house. What colour did you paint the outside?

It's currently Cuprinol garden shades in willow but I'm going to re paint it urban slate when I can source some . All their colours are lovely though and you can see what they would look like on the website .

I sit in there and read when I get the chance , it's so relaxing 😎

The roof and floor are insulated but not walls (didn't want to lose inside space) but we opted for thicker walls. Even so if heating not on it's really cold inside so we keep it on a low even temp all the time then turn up if we want to use. We noticed the wall corners down a couple of the sides were getting that white damp look hence the heating always on.

Perhaps a summer use house is the best bet but bring any soft furnishings in over the winter.

We built our own from a kit .. it needed a concrete base , have you got this already?

cardoon · 13/05/2020 17:20

Not yet, hardcore and slabs advised.

we have just ordered one and am very excited! Just to be warned though we started looking 3 - 4 weeks ago, wantling a low bd=udget one. At that point there seemed lots available. By the time we had made a decision almost all the ones we liked were out of stock! Seems everyone is buying a summerhouse just now!

Walton Garden Buildings - its who many of the websites actually supply from ;-)

We have one, we just bought a decent 'shed' from Tiger Sheds and then insulated, lined the inside with lovely plywood. The outside is painted black. Hooked up with wifi and heating and power and cost us £6K all in! It has become the home office now but also had an Ikea corner sofabed in there too for occasional guest - love it!

That is a lovely one goldpendant, we are also toying with black (Icelandic shack vibes) or blue and white (seaside hut vibes) Grin
We are going to buy local and have them erect it.

Yeah @cardoon ours is skandi inspired - we had the base done by a builder who then erected the thing and his carpenter lined it in birch faced ply - is really really lovely! We've got a tower heater in there for chilly days, and had guests sleep in it over New Year, it works a treat!

Oops I've reported my pic for not cropping it!

I have an octagonal thatched one. Painted in Cornforth White by F&B. We have electrical sockets in there and it’s painted off white inside. It’s not insulated enough for winter use but it’s good from April onwards. It’s our pool house and it’s unique.
