Who else has grown a gut since lockdown began?

Well just that really.

Before this lockdown I was going to the gym 4 times a week and was pleased with my body although still on route to my end goal. Since the 60 day lockdown thus far where we are (abroad) I have grown a gut!

Please tell me I'm not alone

You're not alone....my gut and me are here. It's quite a solid gut now and impossible to ignore. But I don't think it's going away, just increasing daily. I also have a double chin now.......

goldpendant · 11/05/2020 14:54

Me. I have.

Yes, 10 weeks into a stay at home order. It turns out eating cheese and wine regularly isn't great for my waistline, particularly when combined with stopping regular Pilates classes. Daily at home yoga just doesn't work as well.
It feels like the aimless days between xmas and new year.
We can now go to State parks ( everything local is shut) so hopefully walking once a week will help.

OldSpeclkledHen · 11/05/2020 15:04

I look pregnant. Can't remember the last time I had a shag 🙄🙄
I'm like the virgin old speckled hen

TheChosenTwo · 11/05/2020 15:05

I think so. Hard to tell really as I’ve always been kind of slim but wobbly if that makes any sense?! And I’m feeling Increasingly more wobbly despite probably exercising more than usual due to having more time and eating less junk as McDonald’s is shut!
But I’m drinking more and probably eating more overall.

Expat30 · 11/05/2020 15:13

Lol @OldSpeclkledHen I look pregnant too, it really is awful. I also seem bloated. Or maybe that's fat too?! The mirror really isn't a pleasent sight right now. I was waist training before, but to wear it in the house is very uncomfortable and at first I was doing workouts at home but have lost all motivation. Ugh.. I'll be living in the gym once it reopens to get back to my pre lockdown size and who knows how much longer we will be in lockdown so can't imagine how much bigger this gut will be Confused

Between Jan and March I lost a stone and toned up my stomach, I looked better that I have done in ages. Been furloughed since March and lost my enthusiasm for everything, now I'm drinking too much and eating too much and all the podge is back on and a bit more.😭

Expat30 · 11/05/2020 15:36

@mrsdoylesTeaBags it really does suck!!

You're definitely not alone!

I haven't put loads on but there's definitely a slight muffin top where my skinnies used to be quite loose.

It's partly due to not being out and about (lots of walking usually) as much as usual & partly due to slightly increased wine & crap consumption.

Easily fixable but cba right now.

Expat30 · 11/05/2020 16:12

Yeah for me it's just the belly too.. But it was flat and toned before this lockdown and now it's a mess! I'm one burger away from looking like free willy!

Not a gut, because I already had a fairly ample one, but the bra extenders I ordered from Amazon arrived yesterday, and have made a difference to my comfort.

Destinysdaughter · 11/05/2020 17:30

Definitely! I was doing Zumba classes twice a week before, but all the comfort eating and inactivity has made me rather rotund now!

MrsDoylesTeaBags · 11/05/2020 18:02

I am hoping it will all fall off when some kind of normality resumes

CandidaAlbicans2 · 11/05/2020 18:19

Yes, a bit. I've gone from doing a lot of exercise to almost nothing, and on top of that I'm now getting rather down in the dumps and wanting to snack. I don't even want to go outside anymore, and I hate workouts at home. I've lost all motivation to do anything and if it wasn't for the fact I'm locked down with friends (so have to be well behaved) I'd want to stay in bed and get pissed Sad Got to kick myself up the arse, quick.

Nanalisa60 · 11/05/2020 18:49

I have definitely put on weight have been going out and walking for my hour a day but that just has not been enough.

So today because you can exercise more I went for a long walk and did 15,200 steps

Going to do a lot more steps a day from now till I can go back to work and get back to my spin classes

Kalim8 · 11/05/2020 19:39

Torn between embracing rotundity or loving running again.
I'm a bit tired of the stretched stomach feeling now, I truly truly mean to start exercising tomorrow.

Expat30 · 12/05/2020 10:36

Just did this video today, a great way to transition back into exercising! Give it a go.

Santasunhelpfulhelper · 12/05/2020 10:56

Me too. I’ve put half a stone on. I was doing two short runs and two exercise classes a week before lockdown. Now I’m doing one really short walk a day because the children don’t want to go further. Even my neck feels fat!

Survivalmode36 · 12/05/2020 11:33

I've lost some, no idea how as my wine intake is disastrous. But I've not missed a Joe Wicks workout yet!

TheChosenTwo · 12/05/2020 12:25

@Santasunhelpfulhelper I’m finding the same going for walks with the kids. They’re happy to do maybe 3 slow miles but I feel like I’m just plodding. And when I say they’re happy, I of course mean after the usual resistance and grumbles while we are actually out too.
Exercising in the fresh air is meant to lift your mood - instead I’m always left mentally drained by the effort of getting everyone out Hmm

Katinski · 12/05/2020 13:21

Another one here who's lost weight. Live alone, shielding for 12 wks, little to no appetite. Getting gaunt..

Deathraystare · 12/05/2020 14:49

I had one before. So it is being nicely maintained, thank you!

Ilovesausages · 12/05/2020 14:51

I already had one ...

I have gained some weight though which I am not happy about. I actually don’t think I am eating that different from before ...

ChikiTIKI · 12/05/2020 15:00

I'm not sure because I had a baby 6 weeks ago so I don't know if my belly took this long to go away last time or if it's biscuits flab...

Think it's the biscuits 😐
