Shit. Thumb slipped!

...We agreed the sale before lockdown and had just signed our side of the contract - buyer's solicitor came up with a few repairs that we haven't been able to undertake due to social distancing so their side is yet to be signed and searches are incomplete. We are in a small chain and in informal contact with our very lovely buyer via text -- all of us very keen to get moving but agreed that we will can't do anything until lockdown is eased.

I was feeling pretty relaxed about everything until today's announcement; obviously there are other things that are of higher priority in the grand scheme of things but I'm having a bit of a wobble now amd feeling unexpectedly very depressed about it.

Anyone else in the same position? How are you dealing with it?

Yes, similar. Can’t progress on a few issues until lockdown is eased and I just have a feeling of doom that the whole thing will fall through. I’m amazed our buyers haven’t pulled out yet.
Good luck - it’s so stressful but it’s out of our hands!

KTD27 · 10/05/2020 21:41

Yes! Same and same. Cannot believe our buyers haven’t pulled out either. Searches have been completed. Now they want a home buyers report - all fine but more delays. We are trying to move counties before summer so DS can start reception If that even happens. Eugh. So stressful

Part way through selling my late fathers house, the sticking point is getting a survey done, despite it being an empty house.

gloominous · 10/05/2020 22:01

Sorry for your loss OddBoots Flowers

Luckily our surveys have been done but we have a couple of small internal repairs to do before the buyer signs their contract; we are lucky to be in contact with them, I suppose, and their buyer (bottom of chain) is not in any rush to move which gives us a bit of leeway - it's the lack of clarity or timelime that is nervewracking and the thought of being stuck in limbo for two months until the next stage is announced.

Hopefully more comprehensive guidelines will be released tomorrow, though not feeling especially optimistic.

Finger's crossed for everyone.

We just completed mid lockdown so it can be done.

Chain was 3 :
A - Us selling empty house only
B - Our buyer was selling her own home and using mortgage to buy ours.
C - Our buyers buyer - buying only.

For some reason at first it was paused but then our solicitor suddenly said that C “had to complete urgently” so it was all guns blazing. We then exchanged and completed 10 days later.
Moving was done with social distancing as far as I was told.

So it can be done. Guidance only says pause if you can but allows for it to continue if it needs to.

We are.
Can’t get a mortgage valuation so totally stuck and panicking now as our legal work is complete! We have somehow worked backwards and if the valuation is low we will end up out of pocket thousands!!!

cushioncovers · 10/05/2020 23:22

I'm pretty much where you are op although all searches are completed. It's just a waiting game. Got quite a bit of stuff packed In boxes. Waiting to book annual leave at work. Frustrating

MusicTeacherSussex · 10/05/2020 23:24

Same here... handhold FlowersWine

No idea when we will be able to actually move so stuck renting while we wait. First time buyers too so interest has crashed.

Whathewhatnow · 10/05/2020 23:25

Also with you. The longer it goes on the more I worry the chain is going to collapse. I'm really hoping for new guidance tomorrow....

We are selling a house In Scotland ( inheritance )

They had signed everything I think In Scotland that means it is legally binding. Correct me if I’m wrong on that. We were a couple of weeks away from it all happening. Waiting for it to start again. I’m in England. Have no idea what is happening as we cant get hold of anyone. If anyone here is selling a house in Scotland can help that would be great

GnomeDePlume · 11/05/2020 07:04

Not me but DD1. She is FTB, all ready to go but needs searches done. Her vendor needs their vendors' new build to be finished. It's a 3 link chain all stalled.

MusicTeacherSussex · 15/07/2020 01:32

We just completed! Hope you are all ok
