We let one of our broody bantam hens have a clutch of eggs (we have a cockerel) and they are finally hatching!

Say hello to number one!

Mummy animals are always very attentive and protective of their babies.
Mind you she'll be strutting around showing them off soon. Grin.

I'm so envious you get to see them up close!

@ChickenMidwife
This is our 3rd lot of chicks and never had a sick one yet. Chicken mum has always done everything. So am sure you’ll be fine.
The chick is taking a bit from a syringe but is not right - very hunched. Still very cute though and relaxed around people now!

Congratulations beautiful chickens! I love them so much, one day I hope I can have some. The little chicks are so sweet, I really hope they're doing well!

😍😍😍😍😍😍. Are they the ones you thought may have failed to hatch.
I love the way one of them is standing in the corn. He looks like he's going to be little tub of trouble. Grin

Awww I want that little grey one

I will never forget when I was at college, we had lots of chickens there. The chickens had a pen but mostly free roamed which was a problem.

If the teacher saw a hen brooding eggs, she would swoop in and take them as we had so many chickens we didn’t really need any more.

The buggers got wise to that though and would disappear for while, finally returning with chicks in tow GrinGrinGrin

They were forced to live in a pen after the 4th chicken did it

So lovely to see alive creatures after all this awful death on the news 😍

They're fantastic

ChickenMidwife · 12/05/2020 13:18

They’re all getting so brave! Not keen on our toddler though!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 13/05/2020 00:21

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 13/05/2020 00:33

@Awwlookatmybabyspider they really are 😍 I miss working on a farm! Err, your username... do you have pics?!

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 13/05/2020 00:40

@ChickenMidwife they’re gorgeous, I miss working on a farm. One hen would always hide when she got broody, we worried the first few times but she’d then turn up with a beautiful clutch of chicks so we just let her get on with it!

Bantams... I’m in 😍😍
