Suggestions for a muffin tray? Silicone?

So in order to stop the amount of paper wrappers, for environmental reasons and to stop the paper sticking, I bought what I thought was a good silicone mold. But every time I use it the oven smells like burning plastic, so I’m assuming this isn’t good for the food.

Any recommendations?

DS2 had a hankering to make chocolate fondant, so I bought a load of little aluminium pudding cups, and have been using them for muffins too with great success - a squirt of cake release and they just slip out no problem. Plus because they have smooth sides I can use them for little jellies or custard too, and they sit in the freezer with the fondant mix in ready for when he fancies one with no fuss. A couple have got dented, but it's done them no harm and they just either rinsed out or chucked in the dishwasher to clean them.

Oo they sound intriguing! Maybe they are what I am looking for, can you link/tell me the name, and what is this magical cake release you speak of?

I just have a standard muffin tray from a supermarket, which I think was non stick. I grease it first and everything has come out fine so far.
