Wondering about charity shops

I’m having a good clear out of old clothes and toys etc as dc have grown out of a lot of things. I have everything in a bag in the back of the car but wondering how charity shops can accept people’s old things if they could be contaminated with the virus? Does anybody know when/if they will reopen?

Nobody knows when they will be able to reopen.

I think they'll have to store them for maybe 24-72 hours before sorting : putting out on the shop floor to try reduce the risk to staff etc.

Presume they will open when they get the go ahead for non essential shops to open from the government, would think they will be inundated with donations.

We are putting books and toys out as a road on sunny days. About 10 houses have books stalls each day.
Everything is going.

If the clothes are already in your car there may be room in one of those clothes banks which are usually at supermarkets, I’ve been putting mine in there.

I work in a charity shop and we are expecting an avalanche luckily has plenty of storage and our area manager is talking about isolating donations for 72 hours and spraying black bag donations with anti bac, staff and volunteers will have to wear masks and gloves while in the shop, screens at the till, card payments only bric a brac that can be washed after isolation will be before putting on the shop counters, all we can hope is that all the people having a sort out will send decent sellable stuff and not just any old stuff as it makes sorting a lot more pleasant and easier if people mark bags of lower quality unsellable stuff rags as we make some money from them
