My DD is14 month old and has cerebral palsy, she can’t sit independently and has poor trunk control she falls to the sides and slips down even in her pram propped up with blankets and towels. She’s been measured for a baby wheelchair or buggy, anyone else baby had a on this young? How long does it take to arrive and what did it look like?

Not me but a friend of mine.

It took a few weeks for hers but it can vary by area and demand. The one she had (still has) looked a lot like a pushchair in terms of shape. The seat part could be put on facing her or facing the world, it had foam blocks to position her DC and a chest harness. The only things it didn't have were a shopping basket and a rain cover. The raincover for it was over £100 but she found online that a £20 Mothercare one fit it instead. Her DC still has the same frame but is now in a longer seat with different supports in it and a foot rest now that her feet come past the end of the seat.

I have CP. I had a few adaptive buggys before I got my first wheelchair at 8 ish. The one I can remember Is this one www.specialneedspushchairs.co.uk/maclaren-major-elite/ which just looks like a bigger buggy (there are a variety of accessories that can adjust the level of support)
Wheelchair services around here always quote 8 weeks to get something but it’s often quicker and usually depends whether they are sending it to you or you need a clinic appt to get it fitted.

I think she’s a little small for the Maclaren major, she the size of an average 6 month old.
