Can anyone advise? I bought a specialist collectors item off an auction site earlier this week. The auction site isn't ebay and isn't based in the UK. Everything seemed fine. There was no option for PayPal so I payed using a visa debit card. The parcel was shipped out yesterday. Today I had an email from the seller. He's apparently made a mistake and put the wrong item (he had several similar items so it seems plausible) in the parcel that's now somewhere in the foreign postal system. He's told me to refuse delivery of said parcel when it turns up and apparently it would automatically be sent back to him. At which point he would then send the correct item. Will I be protected (money wise) if I do this?
I was thinking that if I took delivery of said item and then sent it back via RM recorded postage (at his expense) then at least I'd have proof of having returned it. Which I wouldn't have if I just refused it at the door? Please help!
