Accidently cut down clematis is there anything I can do...

Clumsily pulled out clematis stem, just about to flower. Can I salvage it

You could put it back in the ground and water it. That's what I'd do.

It must be an early flowering one so you should be OK for next year even if this year doesn't keep going.
