Potty training- please help

Dd is 2.5 and I thought was ready for potty training. Did two days naked from the waist down, putting her on the potty whenever she wees, now three days in knickers and she doesn't seem to get it.

I can clearly see when she needs to go, and put her on but she will rarely wee on the potty. She gets upset when she wees on the floor and then says 'toilet' I don't know if I'm doing this wrong, we're doing sticker charts and reading the books to her but she doesn't seem to get it.

Should I be doing something else/something different or is she not ready and wait for a while to try again?

She isn’t ready. It doesn’t matter if you know when she needs to wee, she needs to be the one who knows when she needs to wee.

Does that just develop? I have no idea how to explain it to her. We've watched videos and read books....

She'll just get it one day. DS was "showing the signs of being ready" for months before he could actually do it.

There's a whole forum on here dedicated to potty training - take a look. Lots of hints and tips.

It does develop. I tried to train my DS just after his third birthday. After two weeks of mopping up wee and seeing no success we had to conclude he wasn’t ready. Three months later we tried again and he was so much more receptive. We used stickers and a bit of bribery in the first week to encourage sitting on the potty but after that it was a breeze. After three weeks no more accidents. I’m glad we stopped and tried again later. Saying that three days isn’t very long. Give it a couple more and if she is still not showing signs of picking it up, try again in a couple of months. Good luck
