Would you pay for a Tarot reading online
Price £9.99 per session, lasts for approx 30 mins.

I'm not asking for business.

Nah. I do it for nowt.

AprilJune · 08/05/2020 13:34

If I had more money than sense maybe.

Devlesko · 08/05/2020 14:06

Pink

Do you mean you do your own, or an online business does it for nothing?

I wouldn't personally as I can read my own (I don't believe it has "supernatural" properties but I think it's a great aid to lateral thinking about an issue.)

But if you don't want to learn how to do your own then that's a very reasonable price for a half an hour reading.

Pinkarsedfly · 08/05/2020 14:25

I do my own, and do them for friends and family for nothing. It takes about an hour. I wouldn’t feel right chargingz

Pinkarsedfly · 08/05/2020 14:26

I have the same thoughts, Will0wtree

Pinkarsedfly · 08/05/2020 14:26

No idea where that random z came from.

Theeighthelephant · 08/05/2020 22:57

No, I have a brain.

JustStayHome · 08/05/2020 22:59

I think i would.
Because some guidance right now would be needed

curdsandwhey · 09/05/2020 09:12

I wouldn't ever pay for a tarot reading no matter what the price, but your main thing should be looking at the prices online and checking you're not charging a lot more or a lot less than the going rate. There must be thousands of people offering this service, so unless you have a USP then it might be more a case of charging the same as everyone else.

Devlesko · 09/05/2020 13:35

curds

I'm a direct descendant of a Romany Gypsy family who read for Queen Vic. She wrote about one of my greats in her diary, I have copies.
I suppose that's a USP.
But, I wouldn't charge the going rate as find it too much, for what is involved.
i think face to face would warrant a higher price, due to fuel and travelling time.

OP posts:
BertiesLanding · 09/05/2020 13:45

I don't think that's enough, tbh. I charged significantly more than that, though my approach was more counselling-based.

Connie222 · 09/05/2020 14:58

That’s a hell of a lot cheaper than calling one of the tarot lines.

Wanderlust21 · 09/05/2020 15:02

No. Buy a pack and a book and do your own readings.

I do.

Unless she claims she is psychic too, theres nothing she can do that you wouldn't be able to do for yourself.

Devlesko · 09/05/2020 15:03

berties

That's what I want to do, rather than fortune telling, answering people's questions with interpreting the cards.
i suppose I don't want to charge too much so i get the work, but also it's something I've wrestled with for some time ito ethics.
But having lost all my income and having to find more strings to my bow, etc, feel i have little choice now.

OP posts:
Wanderlust21 · 09/05/2020 15:04

Having said that. 9.99 for half an hour is a really good price.

Wanderlust21 · 09/05/2020 15:09

Funily enough I've been thinking about doing the same thing myself! But I would want to put not a psychic on my page for the sake of honesty. And ppl really could just do their own readings instead.

For me there is a conflict about it because of my faith though. I would like to help ppl but...my religion mentions fortune telling is alike to witchcraft...

But if that isn't an issue for you, I say go for it. 9.99 is fair price for a reading. Maybe say 20min ish? Half an hour is a bit of a risk. Why not. I'm sure there will be plenty more like us thinking about it. If you can, and you do it with the aim of helping then...desperate times you know...

Devlesko · 09/05/2020 19:28

Wanderlust, you probably know far more than me, but if you don't perhaps we can both help each other along.
There's room for both of us Grin
Isn't there something you have to state about it being "for entertainment purposes". I saw a sign not long ago on a door stating this, below all the marketing blurb and info.
It actually said that she was legally obliged to inform....
Not sure if it's the same online. I quite like this as you aren't claiming to be anything you aren't if that makes sense.

OP posts:
Wanderlust21 · 09/05/2020 20:20

I've never got as far as looking into the legalities but I know I've seen them specify 'for entertainment purposes only' on the magazines ect... I think its probably the same online. Best put it anyway to cover your self probably.

Yeh I like the idea of doing it as just a bit like two friends chatting and one of us has a pack of cards and can read them. I've worked a little in cancer support and am fairly good with peeps. But as for the card reading, I couldn't do it without a book or two...and I don't think it would look very professional to be like 'oh I'll just turn to page 83 and check that for you moira hold on' half way through a call lol.

Still, I guess that's what practice is for.

Definately food for thought.
Know nothing about technology though xD
Were you thinking Skype sessions with the customers?

Maybe we could skype sometime and discuss? :)

I'd imagine there would be an abundance of customers rn for this sort of thing right enough.

BertiesLanding · 10/05/2020 10:06

I never earned a huge amount of money from readings, and I think few people do. The highest earners are those with a few strings to their bow (particularly those who combine tarot with astrology, which has always been more popular), and those who have found other ways of monetising their business, whether through courses, subscriptions, payments for videos, etc.

BertiesLanding · 10/05/2020 10:08

For example, I launched a course a few years ago, which I had advertised via my email list (in the hundreds) - and that was so popular that I earned in one month with that what I'd brought in in a few years with readings. But that's because my readings were more like therapy sessions - and that's a particularly niche area.

wonderrotunda · 10/05/2020 10:25

Maybe look on YouTube to see what some others do? There are lots who read for star signs for example.
