Due in nearly 2 weeks but honestly feel like I could go any day. Been having on off cramps for over a week midwife said I was 4/5th last week so ready for my little girl to be here. What was everyone's second labours like? Were they easier than the first did it take as long? Midwife said to me that cause it's my second and best to go to the hospital quicker this time around is this true?

Mine was more straightforward in that he needed no assistance and things like episiotomy which I had with first. Hard to say whether quicker, probably was but then he came without intervention and first one didn't so can't really compare. Both times I went in after waters broke and stayed/ delivered, but it's obviously not that straightforward for a lot of mothers.

Exciting times for you though, good luck!

Both of mine started with waters breaking... then 6hrs with my 1st. An hour and a half with my 2nd... she was nearly born in the car!

My 1st was 4 weeks early my 2nd 3 weeks early.

I'm following as I'm due to give birth later this year. I'm dreading the after pains, my after pains were horrendous with my first. I also haemorrhaged badly with my first so worried about that.

My first I went for a sweep on my due date but was to sore so I couldn't do it later that day I thought I was leaking so went to hospital to be checked and yeah they had gone for sent home and then 3am contractions started. I went to hospital about half 11 and I was only 1 cm and wasn't dilating until I gave in and got epidural at 6 o'clock 8iclock they checked me and I was 10cm left me for a hour before pushing and had her. So I wouldn't say I had a bad or that long a first labour! X

My second labour started on the pavement in front of the birthing house. I was sent to go for a walk to encourage labour. I stepped out and immedeately took hold of the cleaning lady on her way in Grin
After that it took one hour for the birth and another until I went home again.

My 2nd labour was so much quicker and the contractions were much less painful (1st labour was back to back and was agony whereas 2nd labour was much more bearable).

My first took ages, a few days of Braxton Hicks followed by 24 hours in hospital. Spent ages on the ward and asked them to take a look at midnight which they got round to eventually and I was 5cm. DH got called back in and DD1 arrived at 9 in the morning.

DD2 was an elective section, so out pain free and very quickly.

In my limited anecdotal experience, generally I think seconds are quicker (I know a few unintentionally born at home) and I've heard thirds go either way.

First baby 3 days early , waters broke and as head not engaged , went off to the hospital , and 24 hours later ( epidural and forceps need ) the baby was born , had to stay in for 4 days as I had a PPH and needed a blood transfusion

Second baby , 5 days late ( I was outraged ) contractions started off mildly in the afternoon , called the midwife about 6pm , got to the hospital at about 8pm , baby born less than an hour later , we were home by 11 pm

Much better second time around ✅

With my first I got told I could go home 6 hours later but as it was at night I said no so I thought this time it would be like 6 hours if everything goes well but can it be less than that? As long as I don't have epidural?

My first labour was 27 hours from first contraction to baby and my second was 3.5 hours, so yes a lot quicker!
