Participating in online meetings without interrupting?

Is it just me or is it hard to participate in online meetings (zoom et all) without cutting someone off? I end up not saying much as I can't read the timing entry points and end up speaking when someone hasn't finished (probably due to lag) or speaking when someone else has started to speak. Confused
Any tips?

Use the raise hand function in zoom. Speak to the chair to discuss the option of 'going around the room' to confirm if anyone wants to add their comments to a particular agenda item before moving on.

I've been WFH for 6 years and in my experience I try not to contribute until I'm invited to. Good managers are excellent at bringing people into the chat at the right time ime

As a group, agree a sign to indicate you want to say something. Also do you use headphones? I was on a session today not using my normal ones and there was an imperceptible delay which meant I cut in, which I never normally do.

Ooh, I'll try headphones thanks.
It's work social meetings mainly so any formal stuff won't be appropriate. I stay schum during large work ones.
I'm thinking I'm might just be a bit rubbish at these things Hmm
