Just as the title asks, has anyone had under stairs storage fitted by the company Clever Closet please?
If so, are you happy with it? Would you recommend it? Is it worth the cost?
Thanks

We have it and we love it. Tidy work all done in one day and drawers are really deep.

popcorndiva · 07/05/2020 21:40

Yep. Professional and the drawers look like they should always be there.

Winecheesesleep · 07/05/2020 21:56

Yes, we were really happy with it and think it's worth the cost. We had tried to get a local carpenter to do it but couldn't get someone to turn up. Clever closet were really easy to arrange, quick and professional on the day and the drawers look great.

Hmm I have been considering getting some storage solutions for under my stairs but I need easy access to my meters ( card / key top up ups) can they work around things like that ?
Can you give me a rough idea of the cost please

TheHighestSardine · 08/05/2020 14:29

My mum has - it's really really good!

Fosler · 08/05/2020 15:10

I'd love to see some photos please.

Winecheesesleep · 09/05/2020 15:19

It was £599 for 3 drawers. That's quite a lot but it looks so much better than before. There's no way we could have done it ourselves, I imagine getting a local carpenter to do it would be cheaper but we couldn't get anyone to do it round here.

Thanks very much for all the replies and photos. Good to hear from some people who have had them installed and are happy.
@AlCalavicci according to the information on their website they can work around meters etc. The cost will depend on what option you go for. From my understanding, you send them a photo of the area you want the storage in and measurements. They will send you back the various options (how many drawers / cupboards etc that can fit in your space) and the prices.
Thanks again. I'll email for a quote soon.

Inspired by this thread I contacted Clever Closets. Thanks to @Winecheesesleep I knew what the going rate was and managed to negotiate a discount on the price they originally offered me! I’m very excited to have them fitted but I think it will take a couple of months.

Ah great! Knowledge is power Grin

I was a bit surprised when I looked up how much we'd spent on them as I remembered it being less but to be honest they are great and worth the money.

We had a terrible experience with this company.

They cancelled our order two days prior to installation on the basis that we did not own a private driveway.

We are now left with a mess of a hallway and no way to resolve the situation immediately prior to our baby's delivery date.

We booked in the installation of a three-drawer tall boy unit in early 2021, as part of a renovation of the ground floor of our house.

Unfortunately, due to delays to the rest of the works (being dealt with by other contractors) the installation date was pushed back until June 2021.

During this time, we liaised with Clever Closet to confirm that the area under our stairs was suitable for their product and arranged for our builders to break through and leave the cavity under the stairs ready for their installation (i.e. our hallway is incomplete and a waste pipe is exposed within the concrete floor).

Two days prior to installation, Clever Closet called us to say that they could not carry out the works because our house did not have a private driveway (we live in a terraced house in a city). We pointed out that the installers can park on the road outside our home (we offered to reserve two places immediately outside this with our and a friend's car for the days prior to installation to guarantee this). This would mean the installer would be less than 2m from our front door. In the alternative, the installers could use the whole of our ground floor as their workshop (it is still empty from the works that have just completed) or our rear garden to cut the product down to size.

We were told that none of this was acceptable to them and they could not install the product and would need to cancel our order.

This was never mentioned to us previously and has left us completely in the lurch, with a mess of a hallway and without any time to find an alternative contractor prior to our first child's arrival, due this week.

It also seems to be an unreasonable reason to cancel an order and really terrible customer service. Many people live in terraced houses across the country and we have had much more complex work carried out by other contractors without any issue. I can only assume that the order has been cancelled for other reasons.

While they have agreed to refund our deposit, we have lost money dealing with this company, by carrying out prep work to the area under our stairs that now will not be filled in by them.

To say that I am unhappy with the level of service they have provided would be a significant understatement.
