Breast lump in 14 year old son.

My 14 year old ds came downstairs this morning in a right state, crying and saying he was dying (bless him, he suffers from anxiety and obviously at the moment has too much time on his hands). After consoling him he told me that for the last few days his right boob has been sore and when he felt near the nipple area he felt a lump. I had a feel and he has a large pea sized lump and another smaller one in the same area in the other boob.
I told him it’s probably all part of puberty but he’s still so worried and says he can’t concentrate on anything’s else.
He’s my first born and only son so I don’t have any experience of this.
I will contact the gp and get their advice.
Has anyone else’s ds experienced this?

Oh, bless his heart. It'll be hormones, I'm sure. I hope the GP can put his mind at rest.

No experience of this but any breast lump, even in boys needs investigating. You're doing the right thing by booking a GP appointment OP.

Not got a son but they sound almost like ‘breast buds’ so it could be a hormonal imbalance maybe? I’d give the GP a call though. Bless him, such a worrying time for children at the moment without added stress like his. Hope he feels better Flowers

Both mine had this. If it’s the same both sides it’s a common thing in puberty and will go over time.

Thank you everyone. I’ve rung the surgery and a nurse is going to call back.

That maybe? My son had it and it went away after a couple of weeks I think

Mine has them on and off since turning twelve. It coincides with some spots or growth spurt I find too! Gp said hormones.
Actually all of my boys were born with breast buds too and had them for the first few weeks, gp pointed them out at their 24hr check and said it's really normal and just hormones.

My son had it at the same age and it went away quite quickly

Just spoke with the nurse. She said that it was more than likely breast buds and that boys get them too sometime but to obviously keep a check to make sure it doesn’t get infected etc
