I’m wanting to start a cleaning company in my local area which partly dominated by students and partly wealthy large houses. I would mostly be working by myself, however, may need to hire casual staff for when we are busy with students leaving their rentals. I’ve read lots of on gov.uk website but still can’t decide whether to set up a limited company or become a sole trader?
I’m also considering using the quick books website does this seem like a good idea? I struggle with maths in general!!!

Can't help you much beyond saying Scottish Enterprise was great for advice where I am. I think Business Gateway might be good too? I'm a sole trader for what it's worth. Easier to set up and you can always change later but I work in a very different field.

I would really sit down and understand the tax and help implications for both. Many people who are companies and take the majority of their profits via the dividend route are not entitled to much if any help during the crisis.

There is also the question is liability

Please sit down and understand these before seeing an accountant as they often recommend the LTD company route due to tax efficiencies
