Fussy Eater

Is there some sort of secret to getting children to eat? All my daughter will eat is weetabix, chicken nuggets, fish cakes, chips, bread, peas and corn on the cob. That’s the grand total. She happily helps me cook new things, but refuses to eat them. I’ve tried negotiating, I’ve tried being tough, I’ve tried giving her options with something different on each option. Ive tried decorating food, I’m all out of ideas! Please help!

You have to do the hardest thing in the world. Play it cool! You present the food with a combination of new food and one thing she likes. Leave it and carry on eating your own food, engaging in the usual round the table conversation. Don’t mention the food, no encouraging, congratulations, nothing. Will she eat other things for other people? How old is she?

She’s 4. She eats a slightly more varied diet at nursery, but still fairly limited. She chews about that much that she eventually throws up!
