Talk me down - poorly dd

Dd1 is 10 and almost never ill. She is on the sofa with a high temp, headache and listless.

Has been ok for the past few days if complaining of feeling hungry and being cold a bit. No rash, no cough, nothing else hurts.

In the normal run of things I'd think nothing of it. Give her something for the temp and just assume bug.

But I'm concerned. She's been no where to get a bug! We're both wfh, dh does the shopping once a week - last time last Thursday and he's in and out. She goes out for bike rides a few days a week but we dont see many people and zoom past those we do.

I'm not worried about CV, I'm worried she's got some kind of infection somewhere. But no idea what or where.

I'm overthinking yes? As long as her temp comes down (she has fluids and paracetamol)

It could be Covid if she has high temperature but equally it could just be bug.

Just keep giving pain relief if required, keep the fluid up, try and get her to have a little food if she can. Call 111 if she gets any worse

I’d also isolate your household just incase it is Covid, it’s a small risk but better safe than sorry and all that. As your wfh, that won’t be an issue for you but does mean no exercise out.

Remember though even IF it was Covid, the vast majority will feel rough but will also be completely fine.

How high is her Temp going? If it is coming down with paracetamol that's a good sign. But having experience of a baby with frequent high temperatures I would always err on the side of caution.

Thanks both

It was 38.8 (although cheapo thermometer). Just about to check again but she had a bit of dinner and got some colour back so hopefully coming down.

It could be a urine infection. Seems more likely given you haven’t really mixed with anyone
