Question please re Microsoft Teams

I am doing an online induction in a few days time 9 - 5 for a new company, probably with others although not sure about that but with a trainer.

I have never used this before (nor Zoom) but am I literally "live" so cannot nip to the loo unless they give us a designated break?

I am not sure how they do this induction in normal times - perhaps it is always done this way - but am a bit concerned about literally being sat in my lounge visible 9 -5 without being able to get a drink or spend a penny unless I am "allowed" to.

It depends on your company but when I have long Teams meetings, if I’m not talking or on screen I mute myself and turn the camera off.

oh thanks - is that easy to do? I don't work with a PC or tablet as a rule so not sure

If its scheduled 9-5 I would imagine that 'comfort' breaks will be factored in as will lunch.

BlackWhitePurple · 05/05/2020 11:44

Yeah, you'll have to factor in breaks for everyone - the participants will be in the same boat.

They will have morning, afternoon and lunch breaks scheduled into the day. Usually for full day meetings we would mute and turn off video during those times.

If anyone needs a comfort break they would mute, turn off video and send a message in the chat saying 'BRB' be right back.

Functions are all really straight forward.

I've done a quick image so you can see what it will look like

Have a practice with a friend first or check out an online tutorial, it's pretty user friendly. You can switch off the camera or mute. In our team meetings we're asked to mute unless we want to talk otherwise the microphone picks up anything.
