I was due to meet Rachel at 10.00 hours for breakfast at Johnson's a local Bistro. I was already 10 minutes late when I had parked the car and had rushed up the High Street. It was a warm day for May and I felt hot and sticky and flustered when I finally got to sit down.
It wasn't long into the conversation before I told Rachel I hadn't heard from Mathew for almost 24 hours.
I'd been seeing him for over two years. He usually messaged me goodnight and we would then chat and I always got a good morning text but the night before last and yesterday there had been nothing.
I was worried, I hadn't really slept well and my stomach was churning. I was close to tears when explaining this to Rachel.
" Was he active on messenger?"
"No I removed that feature a while ago as it just made me anxious, I just didn't like the fact that he could be on line and not answer me straight away" I admitted.
"Oh for God's sake!" she exclaimed.
"Have you tried messaging him?" she asked.
"I did yesterday morning with a text asking if everything was OK and I didn't get an answer. Perhaps something has happened to him? " I pondered.
Mathew had been very intense when we first met, he had wanted to spend most of his time with me and eventually I had to tell him to back off a little.
He had also put me on a pedastal saying I was the most amazing woman he'd ever met the most beautiful, I was clever, sexy. It was nice but a bit over whelming and alot of pressure, I wasn't used to the amount of attention.
Just lately I'd noticed a change in Mathew, I couldn't put my finger on what it was. He'd didn't seem as keen to spend time with me.
Rachel laughed, "Really what are the chances that something has happened to him? That he can't reply to Yr text"
"Has he blocked you? Has he ghosted you?" she asks.
"What is ghosting?"
