Why are you up?

Not had any sleep here yet as DD has been very upset with a high temp (bastard teeth).

She's just dropped off next to me horizontally, taking up the whole bed.

Anyone else want to join the party?

No specific reason, just can't sleep.
I'm watching Ramsey's Kitchen nightmares which is my current favourite comfort show.

theothersarenotme · 05/05/2020 02:58

Marshalls macaroni in the box. It's good.

funkylittleboatrace · 05/05/2020 03:00

Ooo nice I'm having a few smartie buttons and a cup of strong tea while I listen to a angry sounding doctor on LBC.

NOTANUM · 05/05/2020 03:03

Contagious insomnia in this house Hmm Now they're asleep and I'm awake!!

theothersarenotme · 05/05/2020 03:04

Smarty buttons? Cool

theothersarenotme · 05/05/2020 03:09

Well I'd be angry too if I had to be a doctor right now. Use a tissue u grosses and stop killing us!

Northumberlandlass · 05/05/2020 03:15

I woke hearing DS (16) boil the kettle for a hot water bottle at 0200 & my anxiety kicked in & I lay for a while considering how to engage him in something productive until Sept.

He’s started going to bed late, getting up late, no school work (GCSE’s cancelled), no rowing (his much loved sport), hours upon hours on the xbox (I realise he is socialising with friends). I worry about the impact this will have - he’s been so focused & worked hard for 2 years for GCSE’s & there is now no focus, no goals.

I need to be up in 3 hours as i’m working from home & can’t switch my brain off!

rubydoobydoo · 05/05/2020 03:19

I've just finished work - I'm working from home but supporting staff who are still physically there so following a 24 hour rotating shift pattern still.

It's very strange!

JemSynergy · 05/05/2020 03:27

My sleeping pattern is f**ked. I can't seem to get to sleep before 4am. I am usually a night owl but since lock down it has got worse.

theothersarenotme · 05/05/2020 03:32

All that sleep training all our lives ruined. Now what are they going to do with us

user764329056 · 05/05/2020 03:34

Am with you Jen, am a night owl too but sleep shot to pieces since lockdown, can’t seem to correct it, 4 hrs sleep max during day is all I ever manage now, it’s brutal, am permanently over-tired and emotional, think will call GP later to see if can have short course sleeping tablets, feel like am losing my mind

JingsMahBucket · 05/05/2020 03:35

I'm on the east coast of the US so it's only 10:30pm here. That said, I also just launched a website for a UK client at 3:00am UK time. I'll probably pack off to bed soon since I have to be up early to launch their social media presences and then work on another client project.

Mascotte · 05/05/2020 03:36

Woke up with the middle of the night dread and can't get back to sleep.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 05/05/2020 03:41

I went to bed at about 11 and was asleep until dh came up at about 2 and started snoring like a bloody freight train or something.

I wear a Bluetooth sleeping mask with built in flat headphones and listen to rain and thunder noises on YouTube in order to drown the snoring out but tonight it's so loud that I can hear it above the thunder noises on full blast, which is too loud for my ears anyway.

I tried to sleep on the settee but it's too narrow and uncomfy so I went back upstairs when it sounded like he'd gone quiet. As soon as I put my head on the pillow he started up again so I thought, "Fuck it," and now I'm downstairs with a brew and a big sharing bag of giant buttons.

Taddda · 05/05/2020 03:51

My 1yo is settling at 8 but up at 2am nearly every night now....2yo settles a bit later will be up in 2 hours...I'm zombied! They're in different time zones sleep wise atm (or trying to off me...!) I'm enjoying the quiet for a bit though....

Bloody teeth op! Have you tried Baby nurofen for the temp? Dd2 suffered terribly recently for a few days while her back ones were cutting (bright red cheeks!)- it worked alot better than the calpol while they're pushing through-

Taddda · 05/05/2020 03:57

@TwoZeroTwoZero Grin ! Thunder wont even drown it out!!?? Have you got a shed/garage?? I'd be buying him a sleeping bag and preparing for 'the talk'!

AppropriateAdult · 05/05/2020 04:07

Due date was yesterday, I haven’t been able to sleep properly for the last week or two - between SPD and rib pain from baby’s feet and needing the loo and now random contraction-like pains that go nowhere... feeling a bit sorry for myself! Tempted to go downstairs and watch something on TV but I know I should stay here and try to snooze again before the kids are up in a couple of hours.

Rosebel · 05/05/2020 04:13

I'm nervous about my baby's movements so can't sleep. I'm waiting for my husband to wake up so I can get checked out at the hospital.

VisionQuest · 05/05/2020 04:22

My five yr old had a bad dream and was crying at midnight so I went and got in with him. He just woke me up and asked me to leave as we were rather squashed in his single bed!

I'm now back in my bed wide awake Hmm

TwoZeroTwoZero · 05/05/2020 04:28

@Taddda we've had "the talk" several times between us and tbh I can't complain because I snore loudly too: he ended up on the settee last week because of mine. I just don't annoy myself!

I tried the spray for 3 months but it didn't work; he tried the nasal strips but they didn't work either. We both need to lose weight and I was going to be referred to a snoring clinic but then lockdown happened.

@Rosebel I hope your baby's ok. Why don't you wake your husband up?

Flippinfurloughed · 05/05/2020 04:49

Morning all,

@Rosebel def wake up your DH if you are worried! I hope hospital goes okay and you are reassured soon Flowers

Ds has been having nightmares all night and is in my bed. I’m so twitchy listening for him that I can’t sleep. You know when your kids smell funny and you know they are getting poorly? He’s got that smell! I have spent the time awake very constructively by over thinking the last few years and any conversation I’ve had at all in the last week HmmGrin

marblesgoing · 05/05/2020 04:53

Awake here too Hmm

Still got the ongoing issue with insomnia since lockdown.
It will be one night of good sleep and three nights of still being awake when the sun comes up Hmm

Well today I fell asleep at around 10 pm but woke up at 2 and am still awake now so won't be bak to sleep now I don't think.

Had a funny week or so with feeling anxious and nerves again but recognising the signs helps.

A build up of worrying for dc and finances aswel as multiple things going wrong in the house and missing everyone.
Lockdown has definitely created a lot of insomniacs

theothersarenotme · 05/05/2020 05:00

I believe we have close to a 25 hour circadian rhythm. But alarm clocks/ morning social schedules with light cues let's us set an unnatural rhythm. Sleep disorder is more of a resistance to all that. Let's just let us be how we like. This is our chance to take control.
