Itching in early pregnancy

Hello all, I was just wondering if anyone experienced itching in early pregnancy? I'm 10 weeks pregnant and a couple of days ago I noticed the top of my foot was very itchy. Now it happens all over my body. I've read that towards the end of pregnancy this can be a serious liver condition but nothing is written about early pregnancy. I'm hoping it's just hormones but thought I'd check with other mums to be. Thanks in advance.

Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy (previously known as Obstetric Chloestasis OC) is a rise in ALT and bile acids. It can occur as early as 6/40 but also not until term. Please go and see/speak to your GP or midwife if you’ve booked already. You can be symptom free with high level but also have horrendous symptoms with low levels.
Have a look at this website it should give you some info, they also have a FB page.

Yes, I had obstetric cholestasis for both of my pregnancies. Bloody awful and a strong reason we never went for a third child. No treatment but they will monitor your liver function. Aqueous cream with menthol was the only thing that brought any relief, I slapped it on in pints! Of course it may not be that, but any symptoms like that should necessitate a blood test.

I had very itchy feet/legs/stomach early in my last pregnancy and I was worried about OC but thankfully the itching eased sometime during the second trimester. Mine was worse at night when lying down. No idea what caused it either, I can only guess it may have been due to increased blood flow or something like that.

I would call your midwife and mention it to her if I were you.
