Can GP's prescribe Sayana Press?

I usually get a years supply at a time from my local sexual health clinic, my last one runs out at the end of this month. They aren't currently offering it and can't do the depo provera either as no face to face appointments. They've advised me to go online and order the mini pill as a bridge but I'm really reluctant as I was on it years ago and had horrendously bad bleeding. I also have multiple health conditions which mean it isn't ideal for me. I'm on medication that would not be compatible with a pregnancy so need really reliable contraception. I've called the GP today but can't speak to anybody until next week. Does anybody know if GP's can prescribe it?

Yes, I phone my GP to get my prescription sent to my local pharmacy and pick the injections up from there. I used to go to the family planning clinic but after they cancelled my appointment due to short staffing and couldn’t offer me another one for three months, I had to start doing it this way.

There have been manufacturing issues with sayana press though, I had to go back on depo for six months and it has only recently been available again. The hassle I had trying to get it a few weeks ago was mad Confused

Oh that's great, hopefully my GP will be happy to prescribe it and hopefully I'll be able to actually get it if there's been a supply issue. What a nightmare.

My GP prescribed it to me last week as there is a supply issue with my pill (Noriday)
