Combination feeding and the combined pill

Combination feeding on combined pill

I know the combined pill is not recommended for breastfeeding mums due to it affecting milk supply, but im wondering if anyone has any experience with combination feeding and the combined pill? I have PCOS and suffer from cystic acne, the only way to control it is to be on the combined pill (the mini pill would not work due to it being progesterone only.) I am currently exclusively breastfeeding my 6 week old and I would love to keep it that way, not only for the health benefits but for the convenience too, especially at night. However, despite feeling guilty and selfish my mental health is very important and living with acne is extremely tough. I am going to ask my doctor, but If anyone has any advice or is doing similar it would be great to hear experiences of how much the combined pill affects milk supply. I would make sure I pumped on any missed feeds that I had swapped for formula and I would like to continue breastfeeding at night. I am also aware hormones are all over the place after birth, but unfortunately my skin has been bad ever since coming off the pill to try and conceive (3 years ago) and I'm not sure how much longer I can put up with it when there may be other options out there for us. Any advice greatly appreciated 😊

Most recent info is that combined pill can be taken from 6 weeks if breastfeeding but that it may affect milk supply. If you feel bf is properly established then you could try it or you could wait a few more weeks to make sure you have the best milk supply beforehand
