My anthem, grew up in Dublin. (Artane)

Used to take the 46a to Booterstown to see the late great Norman Flood, orthodontist of his parish.

For you OP

Girlinterruption2020 · 04/05/2020 03:04

Luke Kelly 'Scorn Not His Simplicity'

Girlinterruption2020 · 04/05/2020 03:07

Actually, wasn't the Luke Kelly song written about Phil Coulter's son, who had Down Syndrome?

The same Phil Coulter who wrote 'Carrickfergus' and this beauty

Girlinterruption2020 · 04/05/2020 03:07

The town I love so well

NaomiFromMilkShake · 04/05/2020 15:41

Hozier has just set me off again. >

It's brilliant, I've listened to it on repeat. Goosebumps.

StandardLampski · 04/05/2020 16:23

I love Phil coulter. No one else ever seems to have heard of him!

Girlinterruption2020 · 04/05/2020 16:37

@StandardLampski

I agree! An absolute master of lyrics. Poetic. Nut I think people know the songs, just not that he wrote them?

Girlinterruption2020 · 04/05/2020 16:37

But not nut!

Girlinterruption2020 · 04/05/2020 16:38

Btw I'm glad you responded. I thought I'd lowered the tone of the thread and scared the Hozier's fans off Grin

nicky2512 · 04/05/2020 16:53

I just lost a long post!
Anyway I just laughed at link to summer in Dublin!
I am not that far off from actually being in Carrickfergus but I love to torture my children by singing Summer in Dublin at them. Also making them respond with how the Liffey stank like hell. Strange I know but sure we can’t all be normal Smile

StandardLampski · 04/05/2020 23:47

Am going to introduce my kids to his music tomorrow- they will be thrilled Grin

I went to see him twice in concert when I was about 16 ... no one is ever impressed by my first gig story Grin

Thank you for reminding me!
