Just as the title suggests! Name a song, or songs that move you! To tears, laughter, happiness, whatever! Bonus points for why.

Mine - Bob Dylan-The times they are a-changin, I remember it playing it as my little sister got into her wedding dress and it felt very apt! And Joe Cocker-With a little help from my friends, reminds me of when I left my ex and my best friend turned up with a bottle of vodka and blasted it out and sang the entire thing to me whilst I sobbed Grin

Forever Autumn is a beautiful song.

I Just Called To Say I Love You, by Stevie Wonder. I used to dance around to this with my dnan as a child. She died a month ago, at the age of 93. She was my best friend.

The Weakness in Me Joan Armatrading...

Sing - The Carpenters

Morningtown Ride - my mum sang to me as a toddler, her mother and grandmother sang to her ... beautiful song that sends me to sleep still .

Jean Michel Jarre as my parents played him over and over again back in circa 1993/1994... Listening to it as an adult makes me cry . It always evokes memories of custard creams, um bungo, windows 95 PC, long car journeys and being tucked into snatch bedsheets .

Walk with me oh my Lord - sung at most family funerals ... Be still for the presence of the Lord is here; for the same reason .

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 04/05/2020 00:59

Here's a song I love that makes me sad but also warms.my blackened heart in a strange way.

About a girl, that meets a boy, they fall in love but she leaves the world too soon and he ends up alone, singing the songs they sang together.

wildthingsinthenight · 04/05/2020 01:03

This Woman's Work - Kate Bush

Walk with me oh my Lord, has been played at every funeral I have ever been at. Along with Here I am lord and I watch the sunrise.

The Promise by Tracy Chapman. I had a fling with an older (attached Blush guy when I was early 20s and he gave me the CD with this song on it. I left to work abroad as he kept hinting that he’d leave his GF but it didn’t happen. Never saw him again and can’t find him anywhere online but I think about him sometimes and listen to this song when I’m feeling maudlin Grin

Drugs don’t work also, due to my dad dying.

Wasn’t expecting that by Jamie Lawson, especially the first time I heard it, certainly wasn’t expecting that!

But by far the worst song for making me cry is from the Dear Evan Hansen cast but apparently not in the show (haven’t seen it yet due to lockdown Angry )

It’s called In the Bedroom Down the Hall. It used to come on after another soundtrack I listened to in the car every day for a week while I was working away from home. I would arrive back just as this song ended and sit in my car bawling my eyes out. I dare you.
