Loads of the little buggers in and around the wheelie bins. Predominantly the green bin. It's about 2mm long.

Looks like some kind of shield bug

They go through different nymphal stages so could be one of the earlier stages

It's probably some kind of aphid. If you can bear insect close-up try this identification page, there are some similar looking.

Correct! I've just found them. Black bean aphids. They're eating my elderberry bush. Bastards.

We fight a constant battle with aphids, so good luck! Try and encourage ladybirds - there's nothing more satisfying than watching one cruising around and picking up aphids for snacks.

Thanks @Saisong I'll be on the hunt for some very hungry ladybirds now. We've thoroughly pruned the poor elderberry and washed a lot of them off but need to keep a careful eye on it. Little buggers.
