I really want to make a slideshow of photographs to music using my phone but don't really know where to start. My friend makes some great ones but using her iPhone and I don't have one of those. Can anybody recommend an Android app?

Pixgram is free and easy to use.
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.swiitt.pixgram&hl=en_GB

Watching, 'cause I want the same! 🙂

ShowOfHands · 03/05/2020 12:01

Do you use it @Thelnebriati?

you can also use Microsoft Movie Maker on your PC, the basic process is the same for most of the apps.
Drag and drop your sound file onto a timeline, add the images one at a time. Set any special effects such as fade in and fade out, check they fit with the timing of the music.
You can export MS Movies as an MP4 file which will play on your Android device.

Cross posted with you, @TheInebriati, will take a look, thanks.

Sorry cross post; no I use MS Movie and export as an MP4. I find trying to do complex things on Android too frustrating, my PC is easier and faster.

ShowOfHands · 03/05/2020 12:02

I don't have a PC so need to use my phone.

Why thank you Grin

In that case I'd go with Pixgram.

If only Mumsnet had nested posts we could stop cross posting🤣

There are lots of video editing apps available for free on android

I know. That's why I want recommendations!

I'm also not sure how to get the music onto my computer. I have the song I want in my Amazon Music library (paid for) but not sure I can use it elsewhere. Presumably, it's a copyright issue?

I can't get Pixgram to do what I want so might have to dig out and fire up our ancient laptop and try Microsoft Movie Maker

Thats the easiest option, use small versions of your photos so the file size isn't too big. You can save copies, crop and and reduce them in MS Paint.

Thank you. I'll see how I get on!
