What's everyone up to today?

I'm having my usual peaceful cuppa, in the kitchen, with the door open. I can only hear the fridge whirring away & the birds outside. It's lovely. I'd normally have the washer going by now but forgot the basket so it can wait a while.

Today's plan is to try and finish off decorating my living room and browse online for something for the walls.

I'll dye dd1's hair & we'll print anything she needs printing for the coming week's school work. She'll probably vanish to watch a musical or read for the afternoon.

Both girls want to bake. Dd1 wants to make cookies and dd2 doughnuts with jam in the middle so we'll do that too.

Roast gammon for tea, possibly with cauli cheese & definitely with roast potatoes!

What about you lot? Anyone got any nice plans for the day? :)

Planning my escape ..as usual.

fairplay · 03/05/2020 09:59

It's been a slow start here and I'm just out of the shower. Dd wants to walk up the hill behind our house, dh and ds are walking along the river in front of the house. Later we'll be having sausage and mash for dinner. It's the first day of lock down that i miss being able to go somewhere.

FromTheAllotment · 03/05/2020 10:02

Oo thanks for the reminder that I need to print DD’s school work. Much easier to get that done today than to be banging about when DH is trying to have conference calls in the office and has piled his stuff all over the printer

Other than that... shit, I’ve just realised I should be getting up and doing the weekly shop. And we’re aiming to go to the allotment later. DC will pester us for screen time. DH will cook something nice for our dinner if I get off my arse and go and buy it.

MrsPear · 03/05/2020 10:06

Well I’m going to wash and dress.
I’m currently treating a disgusting big toe so will deal with that.
Rubbish to put out. Ironing to do. I’ll sort the summer clothes out in the garage too. Oh and prep for tomorrow and another round of teaching. Hmm Anyone else find English a challenge? Although my own SPAG is improving. Pity h speaks ESL and only completed a couple years of school, I would love a day off.

happypotamus · 03/05/2020 10:07

I was on yesterday's version of this thread, and I think my answer will be exactly the same as we failed to achieve any of the things I thought we would do yesterday. Today will probably be the same. I suggest to DC that they do the activities emailed by Rainbows/ Brownies towards badges. They don't. They sit in front of screens despite my attempts to make them do anything else. I despair. I attempt to clean up but lack the motivation to do so. Eventually, I cook dinner, get DC ready for bed and go to work for a night shift.

Penny31 · 03/05/2020 10:21

Have mopped the floors and put a wash on. DH is doing some DIY and dd1 is playing with a space app on the iPad.
Dd2 is toddling about and looking out longingly into the garden.

I’ll probably do more washing and try and think of something to do with the dds, maybe more baking 🤷‍♀️
It’s all getting a bit mundane now 😔

lucysmam · 03/05/2020 10:29

@Dowser where are you planning to escape to?

@FromTheAllotment it is much easier to print today than tomorrow; purely so I know what she's doing in my case. I didn't realise there is an app to the website she's been using, (a work colleague mentioned it at work on Friday), so she's been telling me she has less to do than she actually does Hmm. It's poorly laid out (imo) so printing makes my life easier.

@MrsPear it's maths I'm struggling with Blush Dd1 quite often helps dd2 and explains to me at the same time.

@happypotamus none of my Rainbows or Guides, bar one, have done anything I've suggested. Not even my own girls, who are definitely on their screens more than usual. It doesn't really matter :)

We are having fake Christmas.

Roast turkey and all the trimmings for dinner and Christmas movies. I've been got crackers and homemade trifle!

ilovebagpuss · 03/05/2020 10:34

We are hoping to pop to our local Superdrug as it’s open short hours today. My eldest DD13 needs a few bits. I can’t say it’s a purely essential trip but she’s been so patient in lockdown it’s small thing we can do.
Lots of washing for work next week as I’m putting all my work clothes straight in the wash bin whereas I would have worn the trousers a few days.
Making a beef stew for the slow cooker with shallots carrots and prob a roast cauliflower to go with and some yummy Cornish new potatoes I found at the shop.
Continuing a jigsaw I bought to do as a team project for us all the DD’s drop in and do a bit whenever.
May go a walk but I’m a bit fed up of the walk if I’m honest.
DH will be gardening and sorting the garage.
Best get on!

legoqueen · 03/05/2020 10:37

Late start here...DH is pottering, DS age 14 is still asleep & am letting him lie in. I've put a wash on, I've had a lovely relaxing bath, now listening to the Hope High podcast - good quality journalism. Today we will make Ottolenghi's Chocolate Salami - DS will help. DH & I will do some housework, including changing the sheets etc. If the weather is good, we'll have a local family walk (DH may opt out of this). I'm making Delia Smith's Turkey en Croute (from the Christmas book) for tea. Nice, gentle day.

lucysmam · 03/05/2020 10:50

@legoqueen chocolate salami??? I'm off for a google!

@ilovebagpuss I haven't made a stew for ages, might put that on next week's list.

@FurForksSake fake Christmas sounds fun! Christmas is my favourite event...I love the sparkle & lights 🎄

Wet and cold here. I've just made myself a hot water bottle.
Sadly DMIL had to move into a care home and we had to empty her flat, which was lived in by four generations for almost 100 years.
I now have a vast collection of papers and partes and can add faces to dates in my family research. She worked in admin and even the old fotos have names and dates on the back.

Charles11 · 03/05/2020 11:07

I’ve been drinking coffee and watching Pioneer Woman on tv. She’s inspired me to make pizzas with the kids this week.
As for today, We’ve got some laundry and cleaning to do. I’ll take the dcs for a walk in the woods, make roast chicken, potatoes and veg for dinner.
We’ll find a film to watch later.
Other than that, it’s pottering and screen time.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 03/05/2020 11:12

We're currently having a long lie in, having had a late night. I've been awake since about 8.30 but have read the news and the Observer and generally faffed around on the internet.

Will get up and make brunch once I've finished my coffee.

Will go for a nice long walk and hopefully see the local lockdown celebrity - a woodpecker.

I'm going to make either a lasagne or a pie, and am then planning to have some pamper time - face mask, Elasticizer, paint nails.

Family quiz by Zoom this evening and then an early ish night.

TheTigerKing · 03/05/2020 11:12

We've had a very lazy morning. Only just showered and got dressed. I e been watching YouTube videos of how to cut DH and DS hair... lockdown diy haircuts commence in the tiger household this morning! Wish me luck!

LBOCS2 · 03/05/2020 11:20

We've had a slow start to the day. I'm about to make my second cup of coffee, DH is going for a walk, and the DDs are happily ensconced with screens and bowls of cereal.

This afternoon I need to go to The Range to collect an order I stupidly bought on click and collect. It'll give the car a run to charge the battery so it's not all bad though.

This afternoon I'm going to make coconut macaroons, I think, and possibly do some DIY.

Pipandmum · 03/05/2020 11:30

I love everyone posting way earlier than me saying 'late start'! I'm up but not dressed and my teen son still zonked out - found him at midnight light on still wearing trainers spreadeagled on his bed. He's still there but trainers off and duvet on at least. My daughter is awake but not up.
We are venturing to B&Q to get stuff to repair the rabbit run, and maybe a few pots of plants for some colour. I want to then detour to Waitrose as I'm between Tesco slots and need to top up and collect Sunday papers. A newsagent down the road is selling facemasks for charity I might swing by there - if I'm out I like to accomplish three things at least.
Then home to do the rabbit run, walk the dogs at some point and do another section of the kitchen floor- I'm bleaching it but it's real on your knees scrubbing so only doing small sections at a time. In fact might do a bit now while everyone still upstairs.
Have to say it's only these last few days that I'm really losing track of what day it is, surprising as both kids back online learning so we have a schedule to keep to now.

lucysmam · 03/05/2020 12:21

@Pipandmum I've managed to get dressed, make coffee, and surgically remove the hoody dd1 wears constantly. The other stuff isn't happening (although I am going to spring into action now rather than 3pm, like I did yesterday Hmm )

Been for a 10k at 6am, had lunch, now going with DD in a 6 mile walk. Bit chilly!

bluechameleon · 03/05/2020 13:28

This morning we started very slowly but eventually had fun finishing off our 'space camp' activity we've been doing this week. I will try for about the fifth time today to get toddler to nap before it is too late. Family Zoom call this afternoon, try to get both children bathed without too many arguments then roast pork for dinner.

fairyfingers · 03/05/2020 13:36

I had a bad day yesterday. Got up very late, mooched around doing minor chores and feeling grumpy. Didn't get dressed.

Today, woke up reasonable time but not too early. Took Dd2 for a run and then a short bike ride. Started our squat, press-up and plank challenge (stupid stupid idea there).

Have read the papers, done some minor tidying and made lunch. Chicken in oven so nothing to do for an hour or so. About to have bath and read a new book then will come down, finish lunch, with lay board games and watch a film. So more active and productive and I feel happier as a result,

gingercat02 · 03/05/2020 15:20

Sweet FA! Did about an hour in the garden before lunch and apart from making dinner (roast chicken if you are interested) and pouring wine that's me done for today. Just cannot be arsed

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 03/05/2020 15:29

It’s been mizzling all day, so haven’t been out, but might go for a brief walk in a bit. There are days when I’m stir crazy. This is one of thrm.
