Hi all,
Just needed some careers advice please. I am currently working as an ETA at a primary school. I have been working there for the last few years but I am totally bored of the job.
I have got a good degree and A Levels but I never knew what I wanted to do as a career. The ETA job has been good in the sense that it has fit in around my family life but now that my youngest is starting full-time school from September, I want to do something else with my life.
Ideally I would like to stay working in education but I'm not sure what as? I would love to work as a mentor or a safeguarding or welfare officer but don't really know the steps I need to take to get there. I don't want to train to become a teacher because I want a good work- life balance. The school that I work at offers no training or progression and it is a very small school so there's really no further opportunities.
If you are a former ETA, what are you doing now? And how did you get there? I'd love to hear some inspiring stories as I'm feeling very deflated. I want to have a job where I feel like I am using my skills and qualifications to make a difference.
