Quarantine weight gain

I've gained quite a bit of weight during the lockdown, I cant fit into my clothes comfortably.

Anyone else going through this?

Any tips on how to manage the weight gain with a small child? I'm a single mum, WFH. It's been stressful, but wanting to get back to my normal weight.

Me, about half a stone. Combination of comfort eating (and cooking!) drinking too much and lying around too much. I have an exercise bike coming soon. I really need to get control of the situation, it's harder to lose weight than it is to gain it!

I have put on nearly a stone, I'm the biggest I have ever been and I find this odd as usually I lose weight with stress. I am walking and sometimes running in the early morning but I am drinking lots more.

Yup. I don’t do diets as they don’t ever work. I have turned to healthy eating and that is working really well. I have a problem with my blood sugar levels dropping drastically ( it’s a whole thing ) so not being able to eat when that happened having run out of calories was not going to work. But now I can have a banana or something when it does.
I don’t weigh myself as I have had problems with that in the past so just going by my clothes and they are getting looser all the time.

I’m much happier doing it this way. I aim for fruit or veg with each meal. I’m still mindful of what I eat though.

I've put on 1stone and 3lbs in two months. I just bought a big haul of larger clothes.
The only thing that's changed is the lack of activity, no school runs, no clubs,no work.
Tbh I don't actually care, I can still touch my toes so we're all good.

I normally walk loads in my day to day life so my calorie expenditure has dropped and I'm feeling a bit chubby now. I don't normally struggle with my weight.

I've gained 5lbs, a combination of reintroducing carbs and killer pmt for the last 10 days. I'm starting the diet today, the bread and sugar are the first to go. It's annoying because I'm actually doing loads of exercise but it's been masked by my weight gain!

isabellerossignol · 03/05/2020 08:34

Yes, I have gained weight. I have been very strict about not eating biscuits and stuff like that, whilst working from home, but I know I have been drinking more alcohol, out of sheer boredom.

But I'm just not getting the daily activity that I normally would, plus not going to the gym etc.

Blurpblorp · 03/05/2020 08:39

I don't have scales so don't know about weight but have gained inches all over. It always goes on my back, thighs and neck and I can feel it #mmmsexy on one hand I don't care: I'm still fit and limber Grin and mostly feel good about myself but I wrestle with negative thoughts about my weight A LOT and these have become more prevalent since lockdown. Just grateful to be home with my babies and healthy.

HolaWeenie · 03/05/2020 08:50

Yep, I'm about 5lbs heavier right now, although a week or two ago it was 7-9lb. In the previous 18 months I have lost 6 stone. So I've been battling to stay near my lowest weight, but boredom sees me heading to the kids snack cupboard, I don't even like wagon wheels 🙄

Beechview · 03/05/2020 10:03

I had gained 10lbs but 2 weeks ago, I decided to sort myself out.
I started 16:8 with no snacking, exercised at home or walked every day. I just found some easy walking at home YouTube videos and did those if I couldn’t get out along with some squats and sit ups.
I have now lost 6lbs of that and I’m hoping to carry on losing so I can emerge from lockdown slimmer rather than fatter.

wowfudge · 03/05/2020 10:48

I've lost a stone since the beginning of the year. I joined a gym with a 12 week programme and when they had to shut and lockdown started I was determined to come out of it fitter and slimmer. It's one of the very few things I have any control over at this time tbh. It isn't easy and motivating myself for zoom workouts is hard. The gym has been really supportive and things have continued online. I record everything I eat and drink, which I realise isn't for everyone. If you want to make a change it is doable.

I have been working from home with kids at home, it’s hard!

I have been trying to do one HIIT style exercise session each day - Joe Wicks or similar. It really helps keep my fitness up and also good for toning. Would recommend trying that. Sometimes I’m just doing them whilst the kids eat tea, to squeeze it in.. but makes me feel better.

amusedbush · 03/05/2020 11:41

I’d gained just under half a stone after losing two last year so I decided to rein it back in after slobbing around eating what I wanted during lockdown.

I’m tracking my calories again and I’ve lost 3.5lbs since Thursday. I want to drop another two dress sizes so I’m just going to keep plodding on.
