Just removed my (stuck!) wedding ring

Had to share as it’s quite momentous, I’ve been a bit freaked out for a few years by it. I married young and my rings where only size I or J. The bastard eternity ring was practically serrated with stones all the way round, hurt to rotate.

But, I’m free! I’m not sure I ever want to wear a ring again! I’ve been doing weights and rowing machine too and I think I’d made it even worse.

Has anyone else been as crazy as me and been fearing summer with stuck rings?

How did you get it off?

HibiscusPot · 02/05/2020 16:12

A mix of method
Held my hand in the air for ages
Ice water
Then a did a version of the ribbon method, but with a strip of Lycra cut from tights. While a ribbon didn’t work the stretchy Lycra properly compressed my knuckle and working slowly and repeating it I got it off. The Lycra was also thinner and smoother than a ribbon so didn’t irritate and swell my skin, it’s about my fifth try!

God well done I always wondered if that method worked.

I had to use the ribbon method to get my stuck engagement ring off recently. I was amazed that it actually worked. It is such a feeling of relief, isn't it? Well done.

It failed a few times, thin elastic or Lycra compressed it. Quite a bit of purple finger panic to push through!
