Toddler Lunches?

He normally lunches in childcare settings 4 days of the week. I'm stuck for ideas.

We do cheese sandwiches (only sandwich filling he likes) scrambled eggs, fish fingers or chicken nuggets or 'make your own pasta'

What's popular with your toddler that I'm missing?

Green beans, broccoli florets, peanut butter on toast, veg curry and rice, onion rings, spaghetti hoops, tuna and noodles, today she's had cheese straws with pasta sauce and then yoghurt.

Veggie sticks
Fruits
Wraps
Crumpets
Cheese & crackers
Spaghetti hoops
Beans on toast
Sometimes some mini savoury eggs/sausages

Following as we are in a rut of sandwiches (which tbh we tend to eat for lunch as well), scrambled eggs or beans on toast or maybe jacket potato

Mine won’t eat sandwiches so I just do a selection of things, generally one of each group of carbs, protein, fat/dairy, veg and fruit. So for example a slice of ham, some cheese cubes or a yoghurt, a rice cake, some cucumber and blueberries.

Quesadillas were v. popular with my 2 as toddlers. Noodle soup. Eggy bread. Veggie sticks and pitta strips with hummus. Egg in a hole. Falafel. Little jacket potatoes with beans. Pasta pesto.

Will he eat little frittatas? My daughter used to love them when she was a toddler and still eats them at almost 6.

4 eggs, beaten
Handful of grated cheese stirred in
Add peas/ham/tomatoes/broccoli (whatever they’ll eat!)
Pour into muffin tin (grease unless silicone)
Cool at 180 for 12-15 mins.

Makes around 8-12 depending on the size of your muffin tin, you can half the recipe or keep in the fridge for the next day.

Another favourite of my daughter’s is a ‘picnic plate’ - crackers, fruit, cheese, ham, cucumber, cherry tomatoes, to pick at.

Toasties, wraps, Pitta pockets, pasta salad, rice, cheese and crackers, noodles, something on toast, jacket potato, soup, sometimes just do a selection of picky bits on a plate.

DaisyDaisyAnyAnswerWillDo · 02/05/2020 13:40

Wraps, any kind of home made soup as long as it’s blended so the veg aren’t too obvious!

Elllicam · 02/05/2020 13:56

Mine like Yorkshire puddings with a filling, cheese sauce plus veggies or chopped chicken and veggies works well.

Pitta pizzas - pitta bread toasted and cut in half lengthwise, spread tomato purée or salsa, cheese and any other topping he likes. Melt under the grill then slice into fingers.
