do you include online courses on your CV/ job applications?

hi all.

I have just done a 4 week Coursera free course that is relevant to my field. I'm doing a masters but this course was a closer look at a specific element of the policy area.

The course is put together by the Uni of Pennsylvania so has an American slant in some of the legislative elements but I found it a good overview.

Would you add an online short course to your CV/ job applications? I am in the civil service and will be applying on promotion in a few months.

I'm just not sure whether it would add much value to an employer. I can't say I've really seen this on many applications when I've been recruiting myself but those tend to be quite generalist positions and I am working towards specialising more.

I'd say if it's relevant then yes. It shows you are proactive in your own personal development and if I were a recruiter (far from it) I'd be impressed.
