Spoiling DS

Hi,

I hope everyone is in good health and keeping safe.

I just can't stop buying my son who is 8 expensive gifts, it has got to the stage where he has started asking me why I keep on buying things, because he hasn't asked for them.

I am doing it out of guilt and I don't know how to stop.

What do you feel guilty for?

I've only read the begin g if your utter thread. They're nit intrusive thoughts, they're the thought process and exactly what you should do.

As someone who has OCD (intrusive thoughts) I can tell you your thoughts are not intrusive ! They’re rational! You have an abusive bastard in your house and he needs to go.

I can understand your guilt. You have put your son in a position that hasn’t helped him. It hasn’t helped you either! Abuse is complex and you still feel some loyalty to your abuser. Therefore give yourself a break because your guilt is doing no one any favours. You don’t need to buy your soN. You need to love and protect him.

And yes I know that I must protect him, but it’s very hard being in the situation I currently am I.

@ILoveBeingHere it is an incredibly difficult situation. That’s why your guilt serves you no purpose. You need your strength to get rid of this guy. Don’t let guilt waste that energy. Alternatively, use it to drive you on to do what you must do.
