Just that really! Have been off mumsnet for 2/3 years but got a lot of help and support here before.

Random back story but am a recovering alcoholic and took up painting nearly 2 years ago when I got sober. Received a lot of help here prior to getting sober and today living a much calmer life Smile

I hope these paintings cheer up your Friday or make it a little better if already going well!

Very grateful to have a hobby to keep doing during lockdown! Happy Friday!

Wow

ChocAuVin · 01/05/2020 23:21

Love your art, OP.

Congratulations on your ongoing sobriety – you’ve clearly found a much better way to exist with your painting Smile

HollowTalk · 01/05/2020 23:21

Those of you who like the one under the clock might enjoy Ellis O'Connor's paintings. I have two and they are really beautiful.

buddhasbelly · 01/05/2020 23:23

@HollowTalk I've just had a look, they're stunning! 😍

MintToBee · 02/05/2020 06:59

@buddhasbelly I thought so. These are amazing! I love the big red one! I feel I should know where it is too.
And thanks to @HollowTalk for the EOC link. Theres some wonderful artists on the Hebrides. I have a couple of paintings I picked up in the Uists last autumn.

buddhasbelly · 02/05/2020 07:35

Thank you all! It's the tidiest the living room has been in a while to finally have them up on the walls!

I practically live there in the Summer!!! It's where I should be next week 😕

UnitedRoad · 02/05/2020 11:51

I love your paintings. My favourite is the yellow one in the fourth picture you posted. I’d love to have your talent.

Westnorwood · 02/05/2020 11:56

Lovely, this has given me a bit of a lift

LilacTree1 · 02/05/2020 13:05

OP I’ve been so low, haven’t done any drawing for a week or so, but will start again today.

buddhasbelly · 02/05/2020 15:47

@MintToBee yes we were due to go too 😐 but hey ho!

@UnitedRoad oh that one went to a wee fundraiser for our local women's aid, will stay with me until winner collects post lockdown 😁

@LilacTree1 as this is the first time I've cleaned all my paints out etc in ages, I'm going to get out the charcoal, enjoying a tidy living room for once! What kind of things do you like to draw?

Thanks again all, will be back at the easel next week, having a day of pottering about instead today Smile

How did you learn to paint once you started?

I've started painting with watercolours for the first time in lockdown but would love to try something like yours.

They're beautiful!

LilacTree1 · 02/05/2020 18:12

Thank you OP

Did you have lessons or do you recommend any books maybe?

I like drawing birds at the moment.it helps learning about shading depth etc.

NoSauce · 02/05/2020 18:15

They are so lovely OP!
