Just that really! Have been off mumsnet for 2/3 years but got a lot of help and support here before.

Random back story but am a recovering alcoholic and took up painting nearly 2 years ago when I got sober. Received a lot of help here prior to getting sober and today living a much calmer life Smile

I hope these paintings cheer up your Friday or make it a little better if already going well!

Very grateful to have a hobby to keep doing during lockdown! Happy Friday!

I am emotional but this has made me tearful 😢 your art work is amazing and I am so happy you are living a calmer life, you are very talented x

stophuggingme · 01/05/2020 21:40

You are really talented. Those paintings really do capture the subject you have a natural flair for that subject .
And well done on staying sober.

Thanks for sharing, these look great - you have a talent with light which I love. Bigger congrats on your sobriety & one day at a time is what I'm trying to achieve when just having general difficult days Smile

JaneJeffer · 01/05/2020 21:42

I love them.

ChittyChittyBoomBoom · 01/05/2020 21:42

wheresmyliveship · 01/05/2020 21:43

Parkandride · 01/05/2020 21:47

These are amazing! I would have those on my wall

Nameisthegame · 01/05/2020 21:47

Join art of lockdown on Facebook if you have it, they’d love to see this. Lots of other groups on FB involving virtual exhibitions xx don’t keep it to yourself @buddhasbelly they’re fab x

MrsCrosbyNRTB · 01/05/2020 21:48

You painted those?? They’re beautiful! I’m always so impressed at people who are artistic. I have not one single artistic bone in my entire (chubby) body.

buddhasbelly · 01/05/2020 21:48

(my head is now growing bigger 😂🙈)

Thanks all ❤️ I like painting outdoors as during my drinking days I stayed in the house with the curtains closed, outside didn't really exist.

I'm getting to use my daily exercise to cycle to nearby lochs, which gives me inspiration for painting back at home.

Has anyone else been ramping up hobbies whilst at home? Thanks again everyone Flowers

That’s a heck of a talent you have there! I love moody seascapes, your paintings are fabulous. What medium are you using? Oils?

Calyx72 · 01/05/2020 21:54

Wow
Your paintings are gorgeous and your subject and use of colour is amazing
I love them Smile well done and best wishes

WanderingMilly · 01/05/2020 21:55

These are amazing and very good, you have every right to be proud. I'd have those on my wall any day.

theluckiest · 01/05/2020 21:58

I love these.
You're very talented.

Reading between the lines, can I make the assumption that you're Scottish? Your style reminds me of Pam Carter and she is my absolutely favourite contemporary artist.

buddhasbelly · 01/05/2020 21:58

@Cherrysoup yes oils

@MrsCrosbyNRTB I was about 2 months sober and had a bit of bad news so I went out and bought paint. I've no idea why. Grab yourself some paints post lockdown, it's v calming!

I really love them, they have a lot of emotion in them

buddhasbelly · 01/05/2020 22:00

OP thank you so much for sharing these
And congratulations

I’m working on pencil drawing at the moment and thinking about painting and ways to learn

It’s a bit moot as I have a studio flat so would be hard to set up anywhere but I still like to think aboit it and what I coukd do in future.

LilacTree1 · 01/05/2020 22:01

The picture under the clock - incredible light.

buddhasbelly · 01/05/2020 22:04

@LilacTree1 I paint in my livingroom. My easel and paints are in about a meter squared space if I'm not painting onsite..

Before I could afford an easel I propped canvasses against the radiator. I do not recommend this approach 😂

Beautiful. They really are lovely.

Amazing that you never painted before.

You must have known you were good at art from school? Or were you not?

Windyatthebeach · 01/05/2020 22:08

Scotland!! Very envious!! Never be short of beauty to paint!!
Hoping to get to Mull in October.. Very calming and mindful place to be op.
