Just that really! Have been off mumsnet for 2/3 years but got a lot of help and support here before.

Random back story but am a recovering alcoholic and took up painting nearly 2 years ago when I got sober. Received a lot of help here prior to getting sober and today living a much calmer life Smile

I hope these paintings cheer up your Friday or make it a little better if already going well!

Very grateful to have a hobby to keep doing during lockdown! Happy Friday!

Glorious! I really need to get back into painting... I never got this good though :)

MintToBee · 01/05/2020 22:14

These are fantastic. Is that Kilt Rock in the third photo?

LionessRoar · 01/05/2020 22:14

Beautiful! Painting is such a joy and I love your work. I’ve picked up a paintbrush for the first time this lockdown and found I have a real knack for it and I find it so relaxing. This is going to be a lifelong hobby I think for me.

LilacTree1 · 01/05/2020 22:20

OP, don’t worry, I def won’t do that 😂

Did you fine tune drawing skills before you first tried painting on canvas?
I’m not sure if I should expect near perfection in drawing first.

Inkpaperstars · 01/05/2020 22:21

Wow, your work is stunning. Well done.

mineofuselessinformation · 01/05/2020 22:26

The light in your paintings is beautiful OP.
You have a real talent.
Whilst things are quiet in the world, I would suggest that you contact local arts or crafts selling places/
I think they'd go like hot cakes once the lockdown is over!

HeadOfTheCongaLine · 01/05/2020 22:26

Yep, the one under the clock is my favourite too, although they're all fab.
Huge well done on your sobriety

LilacTree1 · 01/05/2020 22:28

Is it quite an expensive hobby? I’ve no idea how much paint gets used.

I imagine there’ll be stuff in charity shops after this so was hoping to find kits or something.

congratulations on your sobriety and on picking up such a productive, and successful!, healthy replacement! ♥‿♥

buddhasbelly · 01/05/2020 22:43

Oh I went to make a cuppa and there are many lovely comments! 😊 Thank you all!

@MinttoBee yes kilt rock!

@LilacTree1 I just went straight to painting, did acrylics for a month and then moved to oils - canvasses when on offer can be as cheap as £4 in hobbycraft or other big retailers, you just need to make sure they're primed well as otherwise the paint will soak in and it works out a false economy. I don't use too many colours (approx 5 staples) so not too expensive. But another thing to try is a watercolour set (circa £15) as they last a wee while.

@HollowTalk oh I'm confused re EOC but if that's not me I'm sure it's another lovely artist's work- a wee bit of paint on the walls certainly makes a place feel more homely in my wee opinion!

I've just send you a message, OP.

Starrynightsabove · 01/05/2020 22:51

So you’re just using this to sell paintings

buddhasbelly · 01/05/2020 22:54

@starrynightsabove no as have said in my replies. Just chuffed with my paintings that's all Smile

ThatsNotAKnifeThatsASpoon · 01/05/2020 22:55

These are beautiful. I am very conscious of what's in our home (now we are there so much) and I would love to have a painting as good as one of your pieces OP! Well done.

GenghisCalm · 01/05/2020 22:56

They are beautiful.

Thisismytimetoshine · 01/05/2020 22:56

Ah, don't, starrynight. No need.

Starrynightsabove · 01/05/2020 22:59

Oh yes I do sell blush but was more just a wee pic as I'm enjoying being in a calm wee space drink free. I won't post anything about sales on here as then I feel like I've done some sort of underhand selling page in chat blush

buddhasbelly · 01/05/2020 23:00

Thanks, as said a few times, I'm just chuffed with my efforts sober in lockdown, it's nice to have them up, just thought they'd brighten folks' evening Blush

OP posts:
Thisismytimetoshine · 01/05/2020 23:00

So don't buy one

buddhasbelly · 01/05/2020 23:03

Yes exactly @starrynightsabove Im literally saying I won't post about sales after a PP asked about sales, just thought they'd brighten people's evening. So I'm not really seeing your point. No one has msged to buy one. I wouldn't sell them via this. I'm just chuffed my paintings are up on the wall Confused

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 01/05/2020 23:06

There's always one!

LilacTree1 · 01/05/2020 23:08

OP thank you for your advice - and thanks again for sharing your work, it’s cheered me up. Flowers

RightOnTheEdge · 01/05/2020 23:09

Another one who loves the one under the clock!
I love all the ones in the 3rd picture though. They are beautiful. I would definitely enjoy having one hanging on my wall.
Lovely to have a cheery, good news thread! Thank you OP! Smile
