Do you think schools will set work online next Monday, as usually schools are closed bank holidays. Thanks

Next Monday isn't a bank holiday? Next Friday is.

Nanasueathome · 01/05/2020 17:53

The bank holiday has been moved to Friday, 8th May this year

Coffe3break · 01/05/2020 17:53

The bank holiday was changed to Fri 8th May to celebrate VE day.

Orangeblossom78 · 01/05/2020 17:54

Oh thanks- just shows how out of touch I am atm. Smile

Do you think we'll have that day off then or not?

I don’t expect so. As a school we are expecting to close too.

TuckMyWin · 01/05/2020 17:54

And to answer the question, no, I wouldn't expect them to set work next Friday, as the teachers will also be due a bank holiday.

Stacey21x · 01/05/2020 17:55

If you want the day off then take it off, if you don’t then set some work yourself. It certainly breaks up our day so I’ll print something for my son.

Orangeblossom78 · 01/05/2020 17:55

Oh good, thanks. We're finding it a bit intense (Yr10 and 6) and might be nice to have a day off

We get phone calls and emails if the work isn't done

It is a bank holiday in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 on Monday

ineedaholidaynow · 01/05/2020 17:56

Think our locals schools are planning to be closed both online and for key worker children

Orangeblossom78 · 01/05/2020 17:56

It does say Monday in my diary for this year (UK)

arewethereyetmum78 · 01/05/2020 17:57

Scotland here. We're off Monday, then again on Friday 🥳

iloveredwine · 01/05/2020 17:58

We got an email saying they have assigned work but if we decide not to do it fine and do something fun to celebrate VE day and take some pics

Toomboom · 01/05/2020 17:59

@orangeblossom78, the bank holiday was changed late, so many diaries and calender's had already been written up, which is why they say Monday 4 May.
It was changed to Friday 8 May to celebrate VE day.

CheriLittlebottom · 01/05/2020 18:00

Did your school set work during the Easter holidays? If not, I would guess that they won't set work on the bank holiday.

Beamur · 01/05/2020 18:00

If it's a bank holiday then we're taking the day off!

Newjobnewstart · 01/05/2020 18:03

Scotland here we are off next thursday (inservice) and friday (bh)

YippieKayakOtherBuckets · 01/05/2020 18:05

We (secondary school) won’t be setting work on Friday.

RoscoePColtrane · 01/05/2020 18:06

No work being set, on site offer for key worker children only (essential workers, not teachers)

Orangeblossom78 · 01/05/2020 18:06

No- our schools don't set work in the holidays.

OP posts:
stickerqueen · 01/05/2020 18:07

our school messaged there will be lessons online Monday so no day off
no lessons on Friday for VE day

PolloDePrimavera · 01/05/2020 18:08

OP are you in England? If so, the bank holiday would normally be first Monday in May but this year it has moved to next Friday to tie in with VE Day celebrations. It was organised last year some time. In a distant galaxy...

Orangeblossom78 · 01/05/2020 18:09

Thanks again, we'd have missed Monday. Flowers
