Anyone missing just going places?

I miss going to my local market and wandering around.

I miss my visiting my local small farm and seeing all the lovely animals.

I miss browsing in clothes shops, and nice boutiquey places with cute stuff in it

I miss hanging out in Camden market and Stables market.

I even miss the area around my work and going to Pret for a coffee!

And I miss all the weekend trips my DP and I were planning to go on this spring.

I'm now stuck in my flat listening to my neighbour playing his hideous music all day. I just want things to go back to normal!

Yeah. Don’t get me wrong I actually really like my house, but not 7 bloody weeks of it. I want to go to the garden centre for coffee and cake, and to our local NT place for a walk, and to the pub, and out for lunch, and to my mums, and for a wander round the shops, and to the gym...

Sparklingbrook · 01/05/2020 16:04

I miss the pub a lot. Blush
I miss mooching around John Lewis.
I miss DS1
I miss hugging my parents
I am going to miss my friend's May wedding (postponed)
I am going to miss my Mum's big birthday celebration trip (postponed)

And yes I miss just getting in the car and going out without having to think about it all.

It won't be forever, just seems like it.

Drivingdownthe101 · 01/05/2020 16:05

It’s my mums 60th on Sunday, she lives alone Sad. We were supposed to be going for a spa day.

feistymumma · 01/05/2020 16:05

I'm still pretty content with being indoors

Dowser · 01/05/2020 16:05

Well we just go
Obviously we can’t do the things we did before but we haven’t missed out on an amazing springtime
Sat in car now waiting for rain to clear before we take our exercise around a beautiful country park

WindFlower92 · 01/05/2020 16:06

This. I realised this today; I miss going places without having to even think about it. I want to walk along the sea, I want to mooch in a garden centre for some plants and I want to eat out somewhere, anywhere!

Pinkblueberry · 01/05/2020 16:07

Yes. I’m doing pretty ok at home but I did say to DH it would be nice to just go in a shop to browse and look at random tat you don’t intend to buy rather than going out to by essentials. Simple things.

Sparklingbrook · 01/05/2020 16:07

I have been on a lot of walks etc, and yes the weather's been lovely up til yesterday.

But I miss everything.

Drivingdownthe101 · 01/05/2020 16:08

I’m still going out for walks etc Dowser, the point is I can’t just go to all the places I want to go. Have a lovely garden and plenty of places to walk so not missing out on ‘springtime’ at all, just missing all the other things I enjoy doing.

ishouldtryabiteachday · 01/05/2020 16:12

I really want to go look at stuff in the garden centre. It's nothing major just love a trip there with my DS ..

TheMandalorian · 01/05/2020 16:16

Yes. I dont even feel we can go for a proper walk because my 2 small dc forget to social distance. Just want to go out further than our local area and not have to worry about bumping into people.

Abraid2 · 01/05/2020 16:16

I was supposed to be in Spain this weekend -- my mother's first break since she got blood cancer and my father died. She's now in shielded isolation by herself.

Oh well. AT least it's stopped raining here!

Umnoway · 01/05/2020 16:20

Yes, I was saying this to DH last night. Miss really simple things like visiting a National Trust or English heritage site at the weekend, the seaside, sitting in a coffee shop, taking the DC to the cinema etc. I look forward to simple pleasures.

Dowser · 01/05/2020 16:21

Absolutely driving
We all are

ssd · 01/05/2020 16:25

I miss meeting my friend in Costa and having a good old gab.
And I miss meeting my other friend and going a lovely long walk near her house and then having lunch.
I also miss a nice drive with dh.

TazSyd · 01/05/2020 16:25

I hear you.

My local independent coffee shop is closed. The makers markets haven’t been on for ages. Rainy Sunday afternoon at a gallery or museum followed by cake. Popping out for a wander and browsing random shops.

Plus the bigger day trips to local cities, areas of beauty. I’d love to drive to Wakes and go to the beach ☹️.

TokyoSushi · 01/05/2020 16:27

Yes!

They've put quite a lot of clothes near the front of our M&S now although only the food shop is officially open. It gave me so much joy that other day just to look at t-shirts and bras, just something that wasn't food!

missyB1 · 01/05/2020 16:31

I miss going swimming (I usually go 4 times a week)
I really miss meeting up with friends for coffee.
I miss eating out.
I miss browsing little independant shops and stopping for coffee.
I miss the dog cafe - and so does my dog!

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 01/05/2020 16:35

I haven’t been out in the car since the middle of March and I so miss just pottering off someone, for a browse, or to get plants, or a cuppa.

Puppybum · 01/05/2020 16:36

I've realised I'm pretty shallow, life's pretty pointless if you're just stuck in home

wheresmyhairytoe · 01/05/2020 16:36

I miss the beach, walking in the woods and just pottering about.
I miss browsing in shops and having a brew in a cafe.

Busydrinkingcoffee1 · 01/05/2020 16:37

I miss taking my DS to softplay and I NEVER thought I would say that Grin

copycopypaste · 01/05/2020 16:37

I miss driving. I love driving and I love my car. It's not turned a wheel in over 3 weeks now

PureedSocksAndPants · 01/05/2020 16:38

I miss most of these too. And I also miss just pottering about on my own too. Everyone around me all the time is exploding my head.

cakebythepound1234 · 01/05/2020 16:43

So much. I really miss wondering around bookshops, grabbing a coffee from a street food market and a taco or some pad Thai noodles. Just miss being able to get in the car and go to the seaside. Small, simple things that don't seem so small and unimportant anymore!
